Which to choose: meth injection or heat exchanger?
Gents,
Sorry I didn't get a chance to dyno the PLM headers like I wanted to but I had Benzworks install them plus a 180mm crank pulley, new intercooler pump and a canned OE tune. Car (CLS55) definitely feels faster and there is a noticeable difference in sound, but feels slower then my 04 E55 with EvoSport shorties+S/C pulley+can tune.
The problem is that now the car hits a wall after 2 or so hard runs which I'm guessing is due to the stock HE. For those with experience, would it more beneficial to get a meth kit installed or just get an upgraded heat exchanger instead?
TIA

Also have you split the cooling system yet?

lol I deserve that. Yes a miscalculation on my part, I thought we would have had cooler weather by now and the HE could be put off till February. Guess not ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
black06: no sir, just the upgraded intercooler pump
RBJ: So meth injection wouldn't be able to cancel the out the effects of the stock HE?

Split is certainly key.
My mods are in my sig. I had a larger HE and its still on the car but bypassed since I run a killer chiller, trunk tank and meth. Overall a good setup for street and high speed runs in Mexico.

I am running a 180 lower and the smaller clutched pulley with split system, Johnson pump, ec he, and trunk tank and would see a peak 165 in Houston heat. That temp however still pulls timming so I added snow performance meth and now I can hot lap the car over and over and the highest I have seen is 110. To answer your question though start with the he and do some logginging to see where you are at.

Thank you for the suggestions gents, I actually found a brand new Snow Performance stage 3 meth kit locally for cheap which is another reason why I wanted to hold off on the heat exchanger. The results sound fantastic from the meth, so I'll have them do that plus the split while it's in the shop.

Meth takes some managment to tune and manage but is a nice set up, if you dont mind the extra work. If you do an H/E, you might as well do the whole system with duel pumps, trunk tank , h/e and split system. Most of us start with an H/E but then the addiction keeps us adding, so easier to just do the whole system now

If you're just running basic bolt-ons, stick with the h/e. No tuning, no maintenance, and unless you're racing longer than the 1/4 mile, it will keep you cool enough for your needs.
