"Gear selector lever in P"... Wtf?

E55 AMG
"Gear selector lever in P"... Wtf?
Sometimes when i shift from P to D or R i get a RED MSG...
"GEAR SELECTOR LEVER IN P" along with a sound. It goes away when i restart the car.
Its scaring me, help?

Take a look into problems with the electrical panel in the transmission.

It will also do this if one of your doors is slightly ajar.

Sounds like a faulty PRND switch but that's just from general knowledge since I'm not 100% sure how the mb has it set up.

mine does it when a door is open and car is moving...i think its a warning message to put it into park....but not a very good one.

I second this. Start your car with the door left open and put it in drive. You will get the message. Same thing applies to the trunk.

FALSE Just did this and the only red message I see is door open.

The electrical plate is in the transmission, do you have keyless go? Ive seen this error happen when I try starting with the shifter.

Yes i have keyless go. The button os on the transmission lever. Whenever its in other position but P, and u press this button, message comes up. Thats normal. But sometimes, when i put it in drive, msg comes up.

My car does this as well when I move the car with a door open. Big red screen that looks exactly like the photo above. Seems more cars are out there that DO this as opposed to cars that DON'T.
