Question 2010 to 2011 E63 AMG True or Not??

I'm in the market for a sports sedan & one of the cars that's made it onto my final list of 3 Contenders is the 2010 to 2011 E63. I've driven this car & I really like it!! But one thing I heard recently from someone is that it goes through tires like every 9K miles is this true?? This is going to be a daily driver. Also does this car come with Bluetooth Streaming Audio either standard or as an option?? The sales person I dealt with couldn't tell me for certain.

My rear tires last close to 20K. 9K is just exaggerated.

The stickier the tire the sooner it'll worn out. (Under normal conditions)

It also really depends on how you drive like Toad mentioned

I'd say save up a bit more and get the 2012 TT model and then on that it'll last around 9-10K miles haha lol

2011 has bt stream audio. 2010 you have to enable it from the engineering menu. In 2010 works well on android. But on iPhone you have to. Re connect every time you get in.

I'd say 10-12 k is average for a AMG.

Thanks good to know I have an Android/Galaxy S3 phone

I would usually get around 20K on a set of tires & I definitely don't drive like a grandpa. Yea I learned a long time ago that stickier tires where out quicker Which is why I run Ultra HP A/S Michelin's.

Went & looked at another E63, This one was a 2011 & it didn't have BT Audio just BT hands free & the salesman was adamant that the 2010 & 2011 never came with BT Audio. What is this engineering menu you're talking about.

So congratulations! an E63 is a fine choice, I see you are coming from a VW and your largest concerns are tires and streaming bluetooth. I can offer first hand knowledge on the tires, my W211 E55 has had more sets of tires than oil changes 4th set @ 29K miles so a little less than 9K miles per set, I go for my 3rd oil change in June.
Now the bluetooth, I really can't say if that is a deal breaker or not, what is much more important for an E63 is a warranty, any repair on an AMG can cost far more than tires or bluetooth. Oh last thing never believe a salesman.

For all you guys getting less than 10k miles, are the tires getting even wear and goes down fast, or is it due to set up and wearing out inside or outside?

YES

4300 Lbs, + 500 Hp of go + 8 piston calipers of whoa = bye bye tire.
Then so many lower their cars, and yes the inside wear gets even worse.
The only MB worse is the S class V12.

WARRANTY should be number one on your list. Make sure you get one to cover all transmission problems and other drivetrain issues. If you do that your stress will be a lot less. Yes they are expensive, but if you never use it, still count it as a stress reducer well paid for. If you do use it, I have no doubt that it will far exceed what you paid for it.

Tires----- You will likely go through a set of rear tires fairly quickly after purchasing the vehicle. As you settle into knowing what you car is capable of, your driving will likely calm down a little and settle into a normal routine.

Rear Tires- Anywhere from 9k to 20ish k

Front tires stock setup-- 20k +

This all depends on how YOU drive the car. Brake hard all the time, and put the power down will wear all of them out before you know it. I am hard on the rears, but don't take corners too fast and brake hard at all. My fronts I am expecting 25-30k out of with proper alignments along the way. Rears probably 15k.

Tire price--- luckily out tire size stock is fairly common so you have many choices. They range from 130 per tire to 280 a tire. Most are dependent on how you run it. Track guys usually go through more so buy the less expensive but grippier ones, while tame driving gets the Michelins and Continentals. You will find there are a lot of Hankook owners and Khumo guys too.

IF blue tooth music, and tire wear are huge factors in deciding on the actual vehicle, not years of the vehicle, then this might not be the one for you. Gotta be honest.

Tires are the least cost of normal regular maintenance on these vehicles. They cost a lot to perform the way they should.

Correct me if I am wrong guys

Ok now that the tire question is "Definitely" answered. The only Question that remains is BT Streaming Music. Also I'm firm on the years 2010 or 2011

If you that concerned about Bluetooth streaming, (I understand as I am one of them), no doubt you will have an aux jack in the car. Get a Bluetooth receiver and plug that into the jack.. Good to go with any phone !!!

Not sure on a 10' or 11' how the phones are connecting. Mine is a 07' and you need a MB Bluetooth puck. Ebay cost was 150.00, That connected up the the phone system in mine. Then Bluetooth phone no problem.

Ipod connector or 3.5 jack in glove box can be used as direct connection which will give much better sound. I ran an extension in my E350 from the glove box to the center console and ran a power outlet there too Then just left my iPod hookedup all the time.

A Bluetooth receiver for A2Dp audio can be purchased for 100 or less and attached to the end in the Glove box. Your phone would BT connect to both the phone system and the glovebox piece. ONLY thing is the buttons on the steering wheel for the iPod may or may not work with bluetooth connected. I just have a iPod left in the glovebox, no room on phone for memory. Cheapest alternative.

Sometimes the Phone bluetooth or iPod (if not installed) can be turned off in the Computer system. This can be turned on by Star. All of these issues can be taken care of after the purchase of the car. All the years you are looking at can end up having this work the way you want it too.

Get the extended Warranty. Also Have you checked the prices for a front brake job???????? Let us know your thoughts on that when you find out.

Since you are fairly new to the AMG models and are learning, I found out how much the front brake job was after my purchase. Even with all the research , somehow I missed that one. I would like you to call MB and then let us know your shocked expression, so I could see what it looks like on another person. https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif

This is something you should know for sure, warranties do not cover and it will be an expense. Call the dealer, tell them the car, and ask for a price to do the job. After you do that we will help you out from there so no huge worries. I just want you to know what you are getting into so there are no surprises in the end. If you know already then great. If not I wanted you to do a little homework instead of us just giving it out.

I already know quite a bit about it (you could say analyzing things is part of what I do) & the Bluetooth was the only remaining answer I had and yes I already know that the front brake job is expensive, (Have a friend that's on here But he's got a Kleeman Tuned 2005 CLK55 AMG But he doesn't really know much about the particular Model I'm looking at) Also the E63 isn't the only car I'm looking at. But that's all relative.

I just wanted to get a strait answer to my questions which were getting answered for the most part until you came into the picture. (in my line of work it doesn't do you any favors by beating around the bush & not giving me strait answers). If you don't want to help then you don't need to say anything.

I wasn't being an a$$ to you, I just wanted to see what your response to the brake job was. If I said it then it wouldn't have the same response.

This is where the help comes in, various threads dealing with brakes discuss the cost issue. There are one or two aftermarket manufactures for the rotors and pads that can cut the cost in half. Also, not personally sure how appropriate this is, but some members have mentioned running two sets of pads through one set of rotors due to the cost. I haven't but, I just don't know if thats terrible or good. Just fyi.

Bluetooth, I think, I think, the 10-11 years might have the updated 30 pin connector for iPod, if so then they charge while being used. If this is the case, Purchase a iPod to specifically use there, and it will work in the instrument panel. Unless you need to change the content out of the iPod, then no need to ever take it out. Best sound also. But the Bluetooth is just a question if it will translate the information to the info panel. If not using a iPhone then likely not, even using one I think you will lose that functionality. That is a nice feature. I use it on mine everyday. Much easier than the 3.5 jack I used before and had to use my hands for changing everything.

Phone is easy to do the connection for use. Thats not an issue.
