What is my soon-to-be replaced E55 worth?
Sometime around Christmas, I am receiving my 2004 E55, and I need to sell my current 2001 E55.
The E55 I now own is a very unique car I am told. It is my understanding I have the only Espresso Edition of that model year that was shipped to the United States. In addition, my car has every option that Mercedes Benz and AMG offered in 2001.
At present, my E55 has 29,000 miles, has not had any mechanical problems other than two sensors and a power amplifier for the audio system replaced, and has not been in any accident.
My question to this august body is, What should I expect to get in selling this vehicle?

Out of curiosity -- would an '03 E55 be worth about $40k-45k in two years? Sort of makes me think twice about purchasing an E55 if it will lose nearly 40% of its value in two years.

MBWorld Fanatic!
MB values etc...
actually, i don't think it's the body style change as much as performance and desirability for the $. just look at the Porsche 911's - the older one are holding up much more than the new ones. when you see new 2003 Porsches selling for 15% off MSRP, look out below.... the older 1996 to 1997's are selling for the same % of MSRP as the 1999 to 2000 models.
imho, despite the s-term artificial supply demand constraints(dealers selling "used AMGs" with ZERO miles on it for above sticker), the AMG models will eventually have the same % depreciation of the regular models(which have gotten worse the past several years). i'm seeing low mileage 3 yr old S-class for 40% off MSRP(that's worse than Lexus LS). i'm not sure what the solution is, but overall there's too much auto capacity globally and we should just enjoy the cars and treat them as depreciating assets. btw, my prediction is that during the next recession, even the used Ferrari values will head south.

In any case, what's your prediction of the W211 E55's value after two years? 30-40%? If so, I don't think I'd mind waiting to buy a used example then, instead of paying $88k out the door for one now.
