YAAI (Yet Another Airmatic Issue)

Hi all:

Seems to be no shortage of these threads and I'd hate to add another, but I wanted to bounce a few ideas around.

My car completely bottomed out about one week ago, and it has affected all sides.

Fuse is good, and I've replaced the relay. Actually hear the pump running after starting the car, but it will stop after (maybe) 15 seconds and then I get the red screen of death.

So the pump is running, which is great. This leads me to a question and an assumption:

1) Why would the pump stop running after ~15seconds? Perhaps this is due to the newer/updated relay, which should - as I understand - prevent the pump from running hot and burning out.

2) Without examining each individual strut, my assumption is that the pump itself has a leak somewhere. Can't imagine that all four struts went bad at the same time...

Well on my 210, the air pump was only for seats and locks, the pump shut off after 15 or 16 seconds if it didn't sense an increase in pressure so that it didn't burn itself out.

I agree its unlikely all 4 struts went at once.

I would say you definitely have a leak, it may be at the pump, but it could be anywhere in the system.

all you need is about 5 mins with the car hooked up to DAS and it will tell you what the problem is.

This place is a joke.
Just because the pump is running doesn't mean its good.

Yes I had the same thing happen to my wifes car E63. Even if one shock has a leak it will drop the whole thing. The E55 and E63 has this problem alot and 90% of the time its the passenger side front right shock that goes out first. Happened on my E55 and then to my wifes E63. If you don't have DAS you can use a jack, its kinda tough getting to since its laid out, but jack that side up to where your suspension will sit if you hit the raised suspension setting. From there go into the car either start up or like mines when I opened the door it tried filling the shock with air from there I was able to hear a hissing noise to determine it was the right shock. hope this helps
