My rotors are rusty: any way to change that?

My rotors are rusty: any way to change that?
I guess this set did not have the zinc coating so the rotor hat and everything else not making contact with the pad looks like ****. Any lasting tricks to keep them looking nice?

Paint the rotors? Can you show me an example of what that looks like? Also does it last? Seems like temps would be too high for paint to be viable.

What Berti said. Paint the hats then go back over the overspray on the surface of the rotor with a rag and brake cleaner. Works like a charm. Just use high-temp caliper paint.

Here's what we use at my shop, works like a charm:

I don't think 500 degree paint will survive the nurburgring

I'll look around and see what's out there

Okay.

Ask for help, we tell you what to do, then you decline.

I've been using the exact same paint I posted for 10+ years on literally hundreds of customer's cars and my own. Never an issue.

I'll just keep looking around, I'm sure there's a higher temp paint available or possibly some way to treat the metal so as to keep the metal look without the rust.

Thanks for your suggestion, I'm sorry I'm not using it?

No, that's cool, I took your response the wrong way. Like I said, try it out. I think you'll be surprised at the results.

Remove your rims and use a wire brush to clean off rust then paint. Nothing else to but to it unless you keep your car in a garage or avoid driving in the rain, oh and washing your car. lol

I agree with Bimmer. I used heat paint when I put four new rotors on, and they still look new, and its been at least two years.

Fair enough guys, paint it is. Which color is the question. To blend or contrast....doesn't it always seem like the answers to one question only ever lead to others?

I've always just done black as rotor hats don't need to stand out, like our calipers do.
