How do I deflate air bags without Star

Ok, so I've read on here that if you unplug the air pump and open and close the door.... (nope, nothing happened)

I did not try the plug and unplug the battery multiple times as I am worried that I will lose my data.

Looked on forum, but couldn't find anything that works

Anyone have any ideas for those without Star?

Or is there anyone near NH that has STAR and is willing to rent one?

Best

I have not done this but from another post

"If you'd like to let the air out of your Air-matic shock, just apply 5 volts to the bottom two pins of the electrical connector. The bottom is ground, the middle is +5V. That will energize the solenoid and let all the air out. "

Hmm interesting...

Andy we talked about that last night...this is talking directly about the front but the rear is probably about the same.

I'd say drive it until there is about 80k miles and then park it overnight. Voila, deflated bags.

When I did mine I just tricked the sensor. It doesn't need to deflate all the way to get in. And im assuming the fronts is what your talking bout?

Jack the car up, and then open the drivers door and wait for the car to initialize. (make sure you have the key near the car) The car will think the suspension is up too high and bleed air to lower it back to where it thinks it should be. Only caveat to this is to make sure you use a jack that you will be able to remove once the suspension is deflated. In my experience, doing this method will pancake the car.

why not simply unscrew the height sensor and manually move the little arm either up/down and have the car lower the suspension itself? by manipulation the height of the sensor it will deflate the bags thinking the car is too high. i remember doing this on an amg w220 and it worked, i don't see why it wouldn't work in this scenario and best of all no messing around with any kind of voltage. best of luck.

Tried the (unlink height adjusters and manually keep arm down) and it did not work

I'm concerned that the car will lose all stored data if I disconnect the battery

not sure how you're doing it, but in my case i had the car on an alignment machine (all 4 wheels was basically on the lift and the car was up in the air, car was running and had someone put it in drive, but not moving) as i moved the height sensor vehicle moved accordingly.

Jacking the car up and opening the door is so much easier than disconnecting anything. But if you want to do it the hard way, go ahead.

you could always just crack the air line on top of the shock if you are dealing with the fronts.
Although some times when you go to low you get the critical level error and car wont raise back up.. until code is clear..
