2007 CLK 550
-2007 E63 w/87000mi... worth it?-
I'm currently in an 07 CLK550 with 73000mi, and have an opportunity to pick up an 07 E63... but with 87,000mi on the clock. The mileage scares me a bit, but I hear these vehicles are bomb proof. At about $26,000 it's not exactly a steal either.
Opinions from owners? Any huge costs coming up if I purchase it?

This place is a joke.
E63 bomb proof? More like a bomb waiting to go off. Especially an '07. I'd stick with the CLK if you are concerned about reliability. It's probably near as fast too.

Like I've stated in earlier posts, the mileage is not the issue. Having documented service is way more important. If you can get your hands on the VMI and any other documented service history and it checks out, you reduce the risk of paying for upcoming service costs.
Not sure about the 07 E63 being a bomb ready to go off - especially if maintenance has been done on it. I'm a newbie though, so I'd like to know what issues there are on an 07 E63 since mine is an 08. Is it because of 1st year M156 production?
I see the 07 CLK550 making around 380hp with a 0-60 around 5 seconds. The 07 E63 makes around 500hp with a 0-60 around 4. That's a pretty big difference IMO.

I just purchased a 07 E63 with 70k on it for less... I hope bomb waiting to go off is not an accurate account. I feel like mine is very solid. I'm due for service F in 7k miles, which from what i understand, is costly. But if yours is past that it might be worth the price.

An 07 with that many miles for 26 is too much in my opinion. You'd be better off holing out for a lower mileage 07 or spending a little more for an 08. I've seen some 08s with 50-60k for right around 30k.

MY CAR well over 87k 07 no kaboom no ticking nada...
most common issue is the pass front air bag. PCV valve and I just snug my intake bolts down ...until I had to change PVC...
Every car will have issues if you dont service them..

Certainly you need an oil change and my guess is a tranny oil change. But, if just purchased, it might have had the tranny fluid changed.
Get the service history. There is not a lot that needs to be done to these cars. You change the rear tires nearly as often as the oil.
