Sealant On Drain Plug Bolt

Okay, I am getting ready to change my oil on my 04 E55. Can I use oil drain plug sealant on the oil drain plug without problems? Permatex makes a sealant that is oil drain plug specific.

yes you should be fine.

MB recommends to change the drain plug and copper gasket. The OEM plug comes witt some sealant on it

Is this a common practice? Will the sealant get in the oil?

Blown 208 55 amg, 211 55 amg

alot of shops reuse the plug, clean it with wire wheel or brush replace the copper washer (napa sells a set or singles) apply small amount of sealant reinstall

Or flip the washer around the other side and it'll crush differently and seal again
