Received phone call from NHTSA investigator
Hey fellow AMG fanatics on the forum.
Earlier this week I received a call from an investigator (NHTSA) following up on the complaint I entered back in January, regarding our leaking fuel tank/tubes/sending units issues. Yes, over seven months later, but they are following through on the claims.
If you have not filed a complaint with them, you should.
He told me they are going to be putting additional pressure on MBUSA regarding these issues. He asked plenty of questions about the repair history, the nature of my complaint, etc., and told me to keep all of my receipts. This is great news. I'm curious how many others on this board have received the same calls? Cheers from Texas. JR

I have also but I wouldn't hold my breath on getting MB to do anything about it, if anyones fuel senders are leaking and you are waiting for MB to step up it will be unlikely. Find a good competent Indy and have it done, your car will love you for it

I agree Hulk. I just received my replacement sending/leveling units and will be replacing all hoses, etc next week, using a good Indy. A fairly big job out of pocket, but I remain optimistic that MB will step up, even if it's a year from now. This will be the third time this same repair has been made on the car. Pretty messed up.

3 times for me also and the gas tank once hehehe...the thing is if anyone that has this problem and doesn't fix it then the gas tank can get trashed also

That is good news indeed. My pipe dream has been that MB will eventually have to correct the issue and/or do a recall, and those of us who have bit the bullet to fix the issues, will get reimbursed.
I had to replace both fuel senders and my gas tank. It was about a year ago in July, so the way my luck has been going, I'm sure everything will fail here in short order.

Porsche had to pony up over their leaking intake pipes. $3000 repair and almost all Cayennes had this problem up to 06 I believe. Mine were fixed by previous owner but I still got something in the mail and would have been reimbursed if I had recipients. Damn I had receipts from previous owner. Not sure that would work though. Anyway you never know.

Replacing the parts appears to be a temporary fix, I wonder if MB will redesign them if a recall is implemented.
I keep checking Buckheads website for the fueling kit that has been talked about...

Funny I submitted a claim with pictures and documentation from the dealer ages ago and never received a call....I have just been keeping the gas level below 3/4 full, which seems to help.
