need your recommendation for braking pads/rotors

as my car is waiting for the gear parts im thinking about changing braking rotors+pads.

my current setup is stock (i think so), not really bitting hard and makes TONS of pads dust.

i want to hear what pads you can recommend me which wont cost fortune and will keep my rims clean as possible and provide good stopping power.

same goes for rotors.

not looking for extremly light rotors etc', dont mind same weight as stock, just want good stopping and less dust in best price can get.

if can add a link for the exact components to match my car (03' E55 K) will be awesome!

thank you.

I went with Centrix rotors and Akebono pads. Use the search feature and you'll find the links with parts numbers and comments you requested.

I went with akebono pads and zimmerman rotors. 60,000 miles... rotors look great, and i just hit the 50%wear on the front pads. They do produce some dust but not like the metalic. Dust is also close to wheel color so it is not as noticable.

hit up R1 Concepts (on the forums) for rotors, by far the best price when I was shopping around

here's all you need for pads - amazing difference in dust and excellent braking performance!

E55 Akebono EUR983 EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic Front Brake Pad Set $131
E55 Akebono EUR984 EURO Ultra-Premium Ceramic Rear Brake Pad Set $99

Thanks for the recommendations and info!

One question- those akebonos are ceramic pads but I've noticed on other tread some members recommended to avoid ceramic pads as they might cause some cracks on the rotors.

Can someone clear this issue?

Thanks!

I'm sure you'll hear many people say that they have the Akebono pads without any problems - Myself being one of them, and I've since started putting them on my other cars.

I HATE the dust from the OEM pads. I've also made a few 1/4 mile passes, and I haven't seen any cracks...

I learned about the different colors of brake pads, I learned how they look different, I learned that other people think they have less brake dust, I didn't learn anything on why I should choose ceramic pads over metallic pads other than the 'white dust'.

The pad dust of the original pads is insane, after 1 week= approximately 250-300 KM my front rims heavily covered with thick black dust....

I have to reduce it, sometimes my car is really clean but I'm washing only because I can't stand those dirty rims

Dust color and price points are two important items you can always compare. This thread was about a decent combo for performance. How do the OEM pads compare to the ceramics in terms of stopping performance?

Guys - I would be very interested in trying these Akebono pads but there are no distributors here in the UK. I have BBS LM wheels with highly polished outer dishes which look good, but are a pain in the a*se to clean My MB pads are a nightmare for brake dust and I am forever cleaning them These sound like they would be a lot better.

Can anyone recommend a supplier that would ship to the UK and also the correct part nos. etc.

My car is a S211 2004 E55 Wagon (805 build).

Thanks in advance

I use the RacingBreak 2 piece rotors and their racing pads and while there is a little dust and squeal, the breaks perform great. They offer a non racing pad that makes no noise. Also on subsequent rotor changes, you can replace just the hats and keep the rings, making it a less expensive change.
