I have an 06 Charger SRT8 rear diff, can I slap that baby into the E55?

This and the Quaife are two of those things I want to do, but I don't quite trust my DIY skills. Yet.

Would it be wiser to just get the quaife instead? I can also get my hands on the 09 charger srt8 rear diff (more pricey) but I believe that comes with an LSD in the diff too right?

once you install that in your rear, it will rip your own rear in pieces

Could do like I did. Get an entire rear end diff off a CLS63/E63 that had the performance package. I picked up a used diff in the bell housing off ebay. It had 70K miles, and was only $600 shipped. It already has 2.82 gears in it and the factory AMG salisbury LSD. So literally just slap it in, get your TCU modified for the gearing, and it's good to go! I even sold my old diff for $450!!

Don't forget to change the gear ratio in the ECU as well.

That's a good idea. How can you make sure you aren't getting burned? Just run the VIN to see if it has PP?

These are hard to find. Found two on eBay, so I messaged the sellers. One didn't know if car had PP, but that part sold. Other seller has not responded yet.

BUT... there is one listing for a used diff from a car in Germany. Going for the low, low price of $2283.57 (plus shipping). What a bargain!

I understand the need for the LSD to put the power down, but I am still unsure of why you would change your rear diff ratio? Higher MAX speed? Also, I noticed that the E500 RWD is a 2.82 ratio.

If you watch ebay closely you'll find one pretty quick. Just a few days ago there was a diff from CLS55 with factory LSD for only $600.

The ebay saved search I was watching was:
"(e55,e63,cls55,cls63) mercedes, (diff,differential,carrier assembly) -w210 -bmw"

Many sellers are unaware of the LSD option, and will list the diff without mentioning it (which means an even cheaper price!). The unit I picked up made no mention of the LSD in the listing. You can verify if it has the LSD by checking the vin with EPC .

You'll also need to check which axles you have, as W211 had two different styles. I had to change over to the newer style as my old ones were incompatible.

Big difference! I can now launch in second gear and it pulls really hard, and now with traction control off the car goes straight instead of sideways.

I love that you are doing all these drive line mods and basic bolt ons and getting great times and power with stock boost. If I still had my car I would definitely follow this path.

Can somebody run the VINs on these cars to see if any of them have the performance package?

WDDDJ76X76A045246
WDBUF77X77B021288
WDBUF77X88B225387

Thanks.
And what is the process? I tried EPC last night, but only ended up with a few links to Russian sites. It wanted a 16-digit VIN. I think there is one digit that is US-specific, but I don't know which one.
