2004 e55 amg - belt
I just purchased a 2004 e55 amg with 61,000 miles on it. 5th day in and I have my first problem. I absolutely love the car!!
Couldn't find anything searching on this issue.
Coming home, literally putting into park the belt came undone. I believe it's the serpentine belt, because the smaller supercharger belt looks like is fine. So underneath the supercharger, towards the center is a huge pulley. It's completely crooked, and if I reach my hand in, the entire pulley is shakable. In the middle of the pulley I can turn the bolt by hand very easily. The weird thing is there is oil leaking from under neath that pulley somewhere. My other pulleys have oil on them. Belt seems to be fully intact.
I would also like to mention they installed a ac compressor prior to selling it to me, which I am thinking something was not set right and this is why it happened.
I would file a claim and get it fixed under warranty. It will either be a new bolt and a hour or so of labor or you'll be in a loaner car for a few weeks/months. A crank shaft isn't easy to replace, nor is it cheap. That is the heart of the motor.
Again. Do not attempt to start the car. Have it towed to a shop that is qualified to work on Mercedes and/or AMG

The ac compressor was replaced at the used car lot. Does the crankshaft pulley have to be removed to get access to the ac compressor? If so, I am guessing they did not torque that bolt right? they have certified ase mercedes tech.
Appreciate the learning curve help lol.
Tuesday it was towed and it arrived at the delearship at 12pm. All that day, no one called me. Today no one called either. I called, and they said we are looking at it.
My question is, could they be running it over to a shop to patch this repair up? This place I bought the car was a very bad place to deal with how ever I just loved the car. What kinds of things could they be doing? Obviously , this isn't something as simply to fix as that stupid service manager thought it to be.
My advice...stay on top of everything. Every update, every move of all parties, every question raised, and any discussion between your warranty provider and shop. You purchased the warranty, you're entitled to eligible repairs.
I'm not sure what I should be doing, I have an appointment with the mercedes benz delearship, to bring it for a full run through after thus repair.. but it really bothers me that they just want to put a pulley on it.... Should I consult with a lawyer, or I just do not know what to do...
