RaveE55 -- about the headrest rattle...

My new E320 started getting the rattle and it is annoying me. Could you please tell me the procedures on how to remove the headrest from the seat itself?

I'm going to hack into that damned thing until it's completely gone!

Aside from that, I have no complaints about the non-AMG W211.

Thanks, Rave..

Do a search for detailed notes but you adjust the headrest to the highest position, pull the headrest out, stretch the two rods apart further firmly (don't over-do as you can further adjust later). Put it back in and you're done!

I'm sorry Arnee, but we'll have to move this thread to the New E Class (W211) forum.

I had the same problem with my passenger side headrest. Finally after driving me crazy for several weeks I found the rattle was coming from withing the headrest itself. After spraying lubricant directly inside the rattle was gone. That was 6 weeks ago and as yet it hasnt returned.

Do you really think its a good idea to spray that stuff inside your headrest.

The dealers couldnt sort it out, so i took measures into my own hands. Whatever works. It was an oil based spray so not likely to damage the workings.

The other solution worked for me (splitting apart the rods) but I have silicone spray that I might just use when/if it comes back. I used silicone spray on my SLK's roof mechanism whenever a rattle would come up.

sounds like a good idea. The problem with these cars is how quiet they can be and how easy squeaks and rattles can irritate. You get a friend in there with you and ask them to help find the noise and they look at you like your crazy. What rattle??? I kept getting from everyone i asked.

Can anyone help with removing the front headrest on a W211? I tried extending it all the way up, but it will now pull off. The manual doesn't help, as it says to contact the dealer.
