TEXAS MILE OCTOBER 2014 RESULTS
Well, this is the best I could do with the problems I was having. These times are with 9 mph head winds and 88 degree temps. Oh, and my heads were lifting. My first 180 mph caused my car to overheat a little. My second was more noticable. Both runs felt like my car was loosing power at the end.............and they were. In fact, my heads were lifting while I was on the dyno at Dallas Performance a few months ago. Coolant was being pressurized out from the reservoir after each run. We assumed the 100 degree temps and lack of air was the culprit. Hindsight is always 20/20. I parked the car, but for a few full test runs, until the October race. I have burned through 1 & 1/2 quarts of oil for @150 miles. Assuming, of course, my engine is still breaking in since it has only 1300 miles on it since the rebuild and all runs were ***** to the wall.
Although this is upsetting, it kinda is exciting. If I put the power down and ran these mph's with lifting heads.........what can I do when it is solid? Factory head bolts will be replaced with ARP bolts and I will have the heads ported more (if Shardul sees room for improvement)
Light at the end of the tunnel? I believe so.......
Your engine should not be burning that much oil. Rings should have seated a long time ago (1300 miles is actually alot for break in). Definitely throw ARP head studs in there. Would've thought you definitely had that with a built motor. Don't worry about porting heads more. Hopefully everything looks ok when you get those heads off

. I'll have to check out the registration requirements, but at the same time Texas is not right around the corner from NY. A 1 mile event is on my things to do list one of these years. How about some video?
