Chirp / beep noise then no sound
I've searched every combination of keywords I can think of, but nobody seems to have had the same symptoms I'm having.
When I'm listening to the stereo (radio, CD, or AUX) there will be a click (in radio and CD mode) or a chirp (in AUX mode) and then silence for about five seconds then the sound will come back as normal. It doesn't seem to happen for any particular reason ie. going over a bump and there's no message or anything like that.
Anybody else ever experience this? It happens pretty regularly and is annoying as hell.

I had a similar problem when I got my car. It took me a while to trace it to the phone module in the trunk. Once I removed the telephone module from the fiber optic ring (orange wire), my problems went away. It's located on the trunk floor near the back seat. You will need a fiber optic connector (the black rectangle thing) if you bypass the module. They're like $5 from the dealer.

So the more I investigated, the more I was sure this would fix the problem. I noticed that when the beep or silence happens the no service bars pop up for a second in the bottom right corner of the comand. Sort of like the car was trying to get service (even though the bluetooth had full bars). I finally got a fiber optic loop (dealer was no help) and removed the phone module from the ring and plugged in the connector. Now the phone (or bluetooth) doesn't register so I assume I pulled the right thing. Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem. Mine doesn't look exactly the same though. We must have different options. In your picture above which device did you disconnect? I disconnected the box all the way on the left that said Motorola on it. I also have the black antenna booster thing and the module under that. I didn't mess with that.

I disconnected both. The problem stopped and I never bothered to troubleshoot further since I don't need either of them

When I take it to the dealer for the fuel leak extended warranty work, I'm going to check with parts and see if I can get the upgrade DVD. I just dread dealing with the dealer's parts department. It's clear that the last thing they want to do is sell a customer parts. When I called to see if they had the fiber optic connector, the guy told me he knew exactly what I was talking about, but didn't stock it and then hung up on me.

I have the same issue. I don't have a phone installed or NAV on my car and the audio will go silent for a few seconds. It sounds like a short somewhere when I have the audio turned up. A very loud "crack".
I'll see if I can update it and it that doesn't fix it I'll start removing things.

I have that same cracking sound and then silence for a second or two... Then music comes back on.

I never figured it out, but when I went back to a stock crank pulley and retuned my car it went away. It seemed like the heat from the modifications was creating some sort of electrical issues. I haven't had audio cutout in months. It also stopped when it started getting colder out. I'll post up if it comes back in the summer heat
