Very interresting build I installed a H&R Monotube coilover Kit on my E55 last summer. You need the the front and rear level sensor, since the Xenon height adustment uses those sensors. Without them your headlights wont adjust and you'll be blinding every oncoming car on the road. It's not that difficult, i compared the wiring diagrams of the airmatic W211 and the non airmatic W211 and you need to repin some wires. Basically you need the 3 wires from one of the front sensors, 3 wires from the rear sensor which run into the airmatic ECU, unpin them from the airmatic connector and run them into the LWR ECU ( Height adjustment ECU or what it's called, i'm not sure what it's called in English, since i'm from Germany). I copied my german post from another forum here with the pins you need. The red crossed ones are already in the ECU, you just need to take the blue crossed ones from the airmatic ECU. If you need help with the airmatic delete, feel free to ping me, i'll try to help.
I don't regret it one bit, having gone from airmatic to static suspension, it feels so much better.

Thanks very much. Sold those headlights. Complete restoration of car includes removing old looking headlights and adding newer versions that will be permanently adjusted. Removed all wiring for sensors and air-tragic. If I can I’ll also remove it from ecu options. Center console no longer has buttons - customized center shifter plate to CF and deleted buttons.

Worst decision Mercedes’ made was these shocks apart from the ridiculous brake by wire that no one was able to do well for another decade or more.

Did you swap the xenons for halogen headlights?

Haven’t bought them or any headlight options yet. Gonna possibly be one of the last few things I’ll do. Still working on fuel lines and cooling circuit and meth.

hoping there are some clean clear options with LED. All new (mid to high) end cars cars use LED so I’d say that’s where the dev is.

The new cars with LED have a self leveling system as well, same as Xenon, cause they have a similar light intensity and blind oncoming traffic if they don't adjust when the car is loaded or going up or down a hill.

Multibeam has many led elements in one bulb and can create a matrix by shutting off LEDs and create a light pattern. Those usually have a camera in the windscreen, detecting other cars etc. That's the system Mercedes uses since the W212.

Easiest solution for the W211 would be xenon lights and LED parking lights in my opinion. You'll have white light without the yellow stock park light. Stuffing a LED bulb in a halogen housing won't be ideal.

OK, I'll admit it. I never clicked on this thread, because I just assumed it was only the thread title subject, which didn't interest me. I was bored today and clicked. So glad I did! Love seeing the quality of your work! I know of another 928 "enthusiast" from Irvine. Guess those get in your blood, just like these cars do! Anyway, awesome work, and I will be sure to keep watching this thread unfold, now!

I have 2 2003 E55 AMG's. Multiple other makes/Models. 77 RB swapped 280Z, 71 510, 66 Mustang, etc...
Always eager to hear more of where this project is. I'll be visiting it so many times when I get to mine. It will be one of the most read pieces of info during that process!

I'm still
here.

As mentioned, life has priorities and we make our decisions.

Very slow progress. Lots of back and forth on some people that said they would help with the fuel baskets and in tank routing, etc but that was all just bluffing. So will
need to find the best way forward on the hats and baskets for the already plumbed return system.

Here is a pic of the first and second H/E.

I was talking to the guy doing the plumbing for me as well as some fab. I was joking that we should make it to SEMA next year. I love the irony.

Blam! Back into everyone's view, BC928. We're (at least I'm) missing this thread!

We.
Need.
Updates.

Will be the nicest E55 out there.... First right of refusal when you decide to let her go!

Visited the car today. Have to probably find a bigger intercooler pump and re- re route some of the intercooler lines as the radiator doesn’t exactly fit.

Sat trying to remember how the hell the trans cooler sat.

otherwise second H/E looks great. Fits very well.

return fuel system still needs a hat I can ensure I can attached a tank float to the drivers side - there were two level sea airs right? I have to google some of this stuff since it’s been so long.

Need/ want an Ic reservoir, very small just so I can fill and purge if needed.

Running out of room.

What is the blue aluminum block that your intercooler line is running to?

That is the y block that takes the two intercooler lines which are now flowing in the same direction. (Single pass IC) To the pump and then first H/E. I have to move it for the radiator ~ mistake was made.

I was hoping it was a thermostat, as I'm trying to track one down to switch between a HE and a Killer Chiller.

That's a good idea. I decided to add additional cooling to IC circuit and will use Meth as an alternative. To keep the IAT as cool as I can.

I always thought it would be a good idea to be able to automatically switch cooling circuits. ChemCool has this as part of their version of Killer Chiller. Unfortunately, you can only get the thermostat as part of their whole kit, but they do not make a kit for my application. They are pricey kits, but definitely more well engineered than anything else out there.

Things are picking up for a bit. I am having the lines redone because some spacing was not validated around where the lines go. Brought the rad assembly with the condenser for the AC.

I need to find some headlights (sold originals long ago, expecting to find some bright modern ones) so I know spacing for the swirl pot for the I/C circuit, as well as another set of aluminum IC lines for the front exit from the IC.

These are relatively small issues.

The largest one is still the stupid Fuel pump bucket/hanger fuel float mashup.
Car is return system with front mounted FPR and filter. Pics already posted.

All I want is to hang the pumps where they go in the passenger saddle, have lines going to the driver side and out the hat and back in the hat for return. Issue is there are so many permutations for this.
Requirement from memory is that you need level floats for BOTH sides. I can't see why someone didn't simplify that. I don't want it to be complex or finicky.
