The steering is a non power assisted recirculating ball and sector system with quite a bit of castor set into the kingpins. While this makes for increased stability at speed, it also causes the steering to quickly return to a straight ahead position. While the steering is very precise, it requires a bit of muscle as it is always pushing back when turning. I've had three, but in my infinite wisdom, I let the last one go in 1972.Originally Posted by HeissRod

It is remarkable how fast these cars were and the 3 liter dry sump canted engine was a marvel with mechanical direct timed fuel injection. Something that is only now being used in today's engines. What we so casually do today with computers and high speed electo-mechanical components, was being accomplished with slide rule, mathematics and mechanical devices. The fuel injection system on my M-100 engine is basically the same system with the exception of being port injection.
This is the only surviving photo of our 1957 Gullwing taken at Santa Barbara, CA around June, 1957.
