40,000 miles -this is the list of repairs buy or move on?

My friend wants to make the purchase and is wondering.

1)right front marker not working
2)Brake fluid copper contamination getting close to 30ppm
3) Belt tensioner whine upon cold start
4) Radiator Hose soft
5)Brake Rotor/pads will need repair in 6 months (only front)
6)Engine has rough idle
7)Rear defroster doesnt work
8)sunroof doesnt open (makes loud clicking noise)
9) AMG seat badges missing,
10)Gas smell by the fuel tank under the vehicle, no leaks apparent
11)After market pipes have been welded in
12)Front lower bumper has been worn through
13) Engine system has coolant fault code (which MAY relate to the rough running)
14) AC not blowing very cold air

so quite a few issues but only 40000 miles and I have around 5000 to work on these issues. Can I get your opinion if these are deal breakers or if they can be fixed?? I am not even sure what 11) means??? Anything there on the list that is a major issue in your opinon???? I appreciate your time

That's a lot of issues for a car of any miles let alone low miles. You can find a car with twice or three times the mileage that doesn't have all those issues. I wouldn't entertain this car at all as I'd rather have a sorted and cared for high mileage car than a low mileage nightmare. That's my .02 ymmv.

That's the type of car you see on YouTube doing donuts for 20 minutes around the bottle of liquor they just drank in the Walmart parking lot with 5 dudes in it with no seatbelts on.

Walk away.

He will NEVER get all of that sorted out for $5000.......

Start with a better car, even if he has to increase the budget. A nice car is more expensive, but a cheap car ends up costing you just as much (maybe MORE) to get fully sorted.

I am VERY suspicious of any seller who would allow a car to get THAT bad without making repairs anyway..... leaking coolant? Rough idle? 2003 model year cars were known for coolant leaks into the engine oil (IIRC).

The car sounds like it has been neglected and abused. I'd run as fast as I could.......

lolol - thankfully he listened to me and went for a PPI - I told him that "PPI SHOULD BE DONE"

He didn't even check under the back seat yet- could be a surprise there too lol it's covered now but still.

I'll send him the link of the thread - I have 100k miles on my car and knock on the wood other than regular maintenance everything is cool.

increase budget, find a better well maintained car. Low miles mean nothing when treated like that.

EXACTLY!!!!

Do some research and figure out what the current market prices are for the kind of car you want (E55).... that gives you the reality-check about where your budget should be set.

If you don't have enough money, save up until you do. You should currently be able to find plenty of well-maintained cars in the high-teens to low-20's ($USD)

Buying the cheapest available E55 you can find just because it fits into your completely arbitrary $15,000 budget is a horrible strategy.... the car will eat you alive in repairs, and you will run out of money WAY before it's fixed properly.......and it STILL won't be worth anything when you go to resell it.

Tell your friend to stop being so impatient and impulsive.... it's going to be an expensive mistake if he doesn't slow down and look for higher-quality options.

i'd have reputable mechanic inspect the car and get a quote to fix everything as there might be more problems with the car than listed...
and then, car's asking price + repair cost must be significantly less than KBB price...

Unless the seller is paying for the PPI this is an utter waste of your friends time and money. You couldn't get me into a car like that if the price was $1500.

With the wealth of knowledge on this board, he could've just lurked and realized that this car was a waste of time. I've always found that when women ask my opinion on a car it's because they really want to know. When guys (pretent to) ask, it's because they want you to agree with whatever dumbassery they are about to embark on.

Haha lolol

Sure in the context of cars only otherwise you hear women complaing about what their boss or co-worker did at work. I dare you to point out their mistake instead

of just nodding your head and agreeing with them lolol

Hahahahahahah LMAO This is so true. If a woman asks anything other than about a car she really doesn't even want an answer!!!!!!!! She is just talking to herself outloud and your opinion doesn't count. Just NOD your head and agree to whatever she says and you will reduce her frustrations. LOL

he has been PM'ing questions about this car for a little over 2 weeks now & even though I told him to RUN FAST from this car he still keeps leaning towards it instead of moving on so I referred him to make a post on the forum so he can get a more well-rounded and complete answer ....instead he just forwarded the exact same message that he sent me to another member instead of just posting it up himself. pretty weird.. either way if these responses aren't enough, it is a lost cause...

he did start his own thread here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...rs-please.html

...but not sure what information he planned to gain from such a vague post.....

He's asking me about E63 2007- 80k miles on it for 27k CAD.

I've told him to get w/e you want but keep a cushion of 5-7k for repairs based on choice of cars he's looking for.
