REIMBURSEMENTS from MBUSA: Owner incurred fuels system repairs
#27
I talked to a service advisor and he said that if it does not explicitly state on the repair invoice saying "the customer smells fuel in the cabin" that claims were being flat denied.
Make sure something to this effect is on your invoice.

Update on my reimbursement claim...
MB denied my reimbursement claim because the repair invoice did not specifically say "fuel leak". There was only a small section on the repair invoice and it said "vehicle towed in, due to non start.."
Even though both sender units had pools of fuel under the rear seat, they denied the claim based on that one line the repair shop put on the invoice.
If anyone has a way to contact the powers that be at Mercedes, I would love to submit a certified letter to their attention.

That makes no sense, your car had the pumps and senders replaced that should be enough, UNLESS they will hide behind the fact that fuel smell or odor had to be the complaint. That is a scumbag move man

I am hoping I can get in touch with someone at MB customer care and have them contact the shop directly. If they denied the claim for a legitimate reason, I'd leave it alone. However, since they are d*cking me around due to the veribiage on the work order, I will go out of my way to get my point across.

Exact same thing happened to me. MAKE SURE IT READS "FUEL SMELL" or something to that effect or it WILL BE DEECLINED.

I spoke with the warranty clerk at my local dealer and she told me all I needed was proof they were replaced and she has already gotten them approved under thsee guidelines. I will be turning in all my paperwork this week. Do keep in mind that I am turning them in as a dealer with a parts account at the local dealer.

I spoke with MBUSA concerning my declined claim on the phone earlier today. They said their 3rd party warranty company automatically declines anything that doesn’t have “fuel leak” jumping out at them. They said to go back to my indy shop and have them reword or expand on the fuel leak park and then resubmit it to the dealership. I’ll let everyone know how it goes.

Beshoff Mercedes in San Jose is giving me the run around. Finance guy gave me a bogus MB Customer service number to follow up with. When I finally got to their service dept. they explained theyd need to inspect my car make sure OEM parts were used by my indy shop. This would be easy but my car is in a shop 2 hours from me.
I have all of the necessary paperwork as outlined by the letter.

If the warranty was extended on those parts, then why can't we just go in and get the parts replaced now?
