At first, I was looking for something with a GM V8...until a buddy of mine pulled up in his CLK55 AMG. After a ride in that, I knew what I had to look for: an AMG. Right now, I’m still looking, but the following video caught my eye, or rather, my ear.

Yes!
VW sucks, especially if something goes wrong. The prices for spare parts and often failing special Parts are horrendous...Here in Germany we use the following phrase as MB enthusiasts in Forums and on shirts, etc:
"I'm to poor to drive a Volkswagen, that why i drive Mercedes". Haha Thats funny since actually Mercedes is the upper class while Volkswagen only middle class - like the name says The Car (Wagen) for the People/Folk (Volks-).

W211 E55 AMG
Better than any GM car, go for it! However, in good faith I'd have to warn you about the costs difference between making power with Mercedes compared to any GM small block.

2005 with 176K miles
Mobil1 every 8K miles, replaced alternator, a couple of the air shocks (arnot), brakes and a few other wear and tear items.
Puts a smile on my face every day, I cannot part with it. Except a new E63, I cannot seem to find a replacement so I will keep it as long as I can.

Go for it!
I've had mine over 7 years and it's still a total blast to drive. They are expensive when they break and the wear and tear parts are a rip at the dealer. If you can wrench, even a little, learn how to do research on this forum, it will take a lot of the mystery out of easy jobs.
I'm in an area that doesn't see many AMG's, so it's still fun to surprise the occasional vette, 911, or Maserati.

Short answer Yes
Long answer Yeeeeeeessssssssss
You won't be disappointed, the only thing you may not like is that the modifications that can be done are damn near endless
(though that's not a bad thing really)
Oh yeah.....make sure you get a STAR set up, a decent tool set and a spare set of rear tyres

Before you purchase the actual car, you'll have to roll with style. You'll need wheels. Nice ones too.
Oh... what a coincidence, i happen to be selling some wheels.![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
But real talk... you'll know if you want one. You won't second guess yourself.

Had mine 6 months and have replaced the valve cover gaskets, repaired a broken wire in the trunk, replaced the fuel rail regulator and am replacing the blower fan/regulator this week. I still love my car! I would buy it again no problem!
