Where to buy cigarette lighter insert or cap?

So I found out what was draining my battery over and over. 2 DIMES SITTING IN THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER PORT!! What a headache.

I lost the actual lighter piece some time ago. Tried to find a universal one at autozone but they don't make any for mercedes apparently. Anyone know a place to get one besides the stealer?

Jakez,

I'm glad you found the cause of the battery draining.

I looked at EPC and I am only showing the assembly for your 2003 E55.

We have them available to order on our site and you can get to them by clicking HERE or on the image below.

I hope this information helps.

David

Why does it have to be MB specific? Its universal. Think about it, any charger that uses the cigarette lighter terminal can fit your car and any other car.

Weird. Usually coins in there would just blow the fuse not cause a draw.

Bah. I didn't even think about that. The ones listed at autozone had specific car company names on them so I figured they wouldn't work.

I have a usb thing I could plug in. Just at this point I'm worried about it somehow draining power for no reason other than being plugged in.

This place is a joke.
The lighter is only powered with the key in the ON position. Look elsewhere for your battery draw.

Nope, should be good - mines plugged in 24/7 and the cars away most of the time. Something has to be plugged into the USB and drawing power for it to draw power. PLUS the light on the USB plug tells you if its drawing power.

You were right greasemonkey, there's a drain somewhere else. My car is currently DEAD again. Can't get into the trunk.

I ran across this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post5513948

Just not sure what a "booster pack" is... could I do what he is saying with the battery charger I have?

-_-

I've read a few can't get into the trunk threads - just so I know what to do if it ever happens to me - and two things I noted:

1. For various reasons some don't know there is a metal key in the FOB
2. Using the metal key to open the trunk it seems like you have to fiddle with it quite a bit.

Once you get the trunk open you can charge the battery - the alternative will require a lot of work, So get that trunk open!

couple tips:

- Shot of wd40 into the trunk lock
- Had to turn my blade and pull the handle to get it to open
- try a different key from another FOB
