Custom polished enclosed air filters

Can anyone tell me what size piping is used on the enclosed filter air intake set ups on the E55 ? I've been looking at set ups like Fabtec carries and based on the pricing that I'm seeing I will probably have my own set built by a local fabricator . Just received my new top pulley (I already have the crank pulley installed ) and my new Bosch 010 pump, belt wrap and 82mm throttle body . Hoping to dyno the car first with the Kleemann tune, crank pulley , long tubes, primary cats delete, secondary cats delete, resonator delete x pipe added next week then install the new goodies and back to the Dyno to see just what I'm going to get from this latest batch of mods. Also going to spray the surge tanks and supercharger while it's apart. Looking forward to getting this stuff on and get to the track for some new time slips.

I think the only thing custom in the fabtech setup is the y pipe and maybe the 45 degree pipes going to the holes behind the grill, otherwise its pretty overpriced imo everything else can be bought for much less. I will be using 2 Spectre 9832 enclosed filters which is what I assume most people are using, they have smaller sizes as well. The e55 has less room for the y pipe then a cl55 or a s55 but still doable if you custom make it. Making your own setup is very straight forward. Most likely no performance gain but the sound of the supercharger is worth it.

Yea, those are the ones I'm looking at from Summit . Those are the 4"inlet and outlet. They are only like $69.00 each . I can't see paying out the *** for a kit that simple so I'm just going to buy those and have my buddy at Stage 6 Motorsports here in town weld up a set.

Just posting for the notifications, I have the spectre 4" inlet 5" inline filters and all piping needed to replicate the fabtech intake system (in 3.5" piping) but I need to see my fabricator to create a Y Pipe as all my piping is 3.5" and not 3", so hopefully someone posts up some clips or updates soon, cheers,

So this is the first set we made . My engine is still apart so he is a pic of my buddy's car that the first set went on. We used 3 and a half inch piping with the 4 inch inlet/outlet size filters. The Y pipe is also 3.5 inch . It's a snug fit (especially the Y pipe) but it came out awesome . I'm very pleased with the job my buddy at Stage 6 here in Jacksonville did fabricating these.

Nice,

Do you have any sound clips with this on

Your fabricator didn't make 2 3.5" Y pipes by any chance did he?

I don't have any sound clips. There is a slight sound difference but because the filters are still enclosed it's not much and would be hard to tell much from a sound clip. If it was a open filter system the sound difference would be greater but then your pulling hot air from the engine bay and I didn't want that. I don't have any extra parts , he just made two complete sets . One for a buddy whose car is the one pictured and the other for mine which I can't put on yet because my engine is partially apart right now as the 82mm throttle body is being installed.

I made my own using 3.5" piping, a bunch of silicone couplers, turbo hose clamps, and some enclosed cone filters.

Not the prettiest, but it gets the job done:

Nothing wrong with that, looks nice. I really like the green calipers on the black car. I'm surprised you didn't bring a little of that into the engine bay. I just shot my supercharger the graphite color I did my exterior trim and my surge tanks and intake piping the blue exterior color. In the process of getting it back together now.

Looks great bro, glad I held out for the air intake, now you've inspired me to do the same.
