Going to the track wednesday...

You guys think it's a good idea to get there pretty much with an empty tank and then fill bout a quarter tank with 100 fer the runs? Would mixing 100 with the cheap 91 (dayam kali) be a better idea. Any tips would be greatly appreciated cause this is my first time going. Any tips on how much gas...what rpm's to launch and what not. Thanks in advance.

That is a good choice, try that I have done it and makes a difference. You should launch at no higher than 1,500 rpms. Brake and Gas together BUT when you let the brake go do not just hit the gas full throttle. Go half way and then hit it full blast. Failure of pressing the gas half way will result a lot of spin. Good Luck and post your times.

If you are going to run 100 Octane make sure you get unleaded. If you run leaded you will have problems with your O2 sensors and Cats.

That's completely right, I forgot to add that up in my previous post.

Others with V8K have been getting best times with these settings:

ESP=ON
TANK=FULL 94+ OCTANE
REAR TIRES=22-26PSI
FRONT TIRES=36-40PSI
SUSPENSION=COMFORT
TRANS=FOURTH

This seems to provide the most traction for the skinny stock tires. Also, I recommend that you ice the intercooler before each round to reduce intake air temps. There is a guy in a stock S55 in the Marin area that ran 11.91 at 117 last month doing this.

I will definitely try that out. Any hints on when to launch and what not? TIA

Would avoid the water box unless your goin to run drag radials or your goin to get a mother of all burn outs to dry the tires.

I didn't get a chance to talk to him in to much detail but he said that he "rolled into it". My guess is that stabbing the throttle too quickly will light the tires and ESP will reduce power too much.

Definately stay out of the water. Drive around it and if you want, do a short dry burnout to put a little heat in the tires.

With street tires you want to drive around the water box, then back up until you are right in front of it (but NOT in it). Turn ESP off, and light up the tires for about 3-4 seconds. Basically, just stab the throttle for a couple of seconds without braking and then let off and let the car roll forward. Tracks have a lot of crap on them from other tires (pieces of rubber), rocks, etc and by spinning them a little bit you can clean them off to make sure you have a clean contact patch. You DO NOT want to put street tires in the waterbox and heat them up like a drag radial or slick, under any circumstance.

I cut 1.8 60' on my W210 E55 (stock Dunlops) without even lowering the tire pressure by using this proven technique.

That's the area behind the starting line where dragsters start their smokey burnouts! They used to add bleach to the water to soften the tires even more. Not sure what they use today.

A lot of tracks let you walk the area before you drive your car to the line. You can go during a break in the action and see what areas to avoid.
