Intercooler pump??

Is there a way to turn intercooler pump on full time with the star?

Or must I wire it to a acc fuse?

Can't be done via star.
ECU map can be modified to let it run all the time

Is it any benefit with pump that runs all time?
Would not the water go around too fast then, and impair the cooling effect?

I can say I've used ecu maps from two different vendors one I suspect had the pump running all the time and one that uses an algorithm of some sort. The one that is not running all the time runs much cooler in hotter weather (summer)

Ok, algorithm of some sort.
What triggers pump to start and stop?
Is it heat sensors near or in S/C or engine? Both?
Exampel: 105 degrees, sensor triggers pump to start. 80 degrees pump stop.
So it's possible to change these setting in ECU or with algoritm?
Anyone know how this works? Very interesting info to know

the reason I ask a friend of mine has star.. my E55 is stock
and considering the intercooler split, My Inlet temps are about 15-20 above ambient cruising in stock trim. and under WOT 126 deg is the highest i have seen on a 73* day.

If the intercooler split drops my inlet temps 20-25* what type of HP could be gain, dynoed 426hp/440tq as is with 149,000 miles.

ECU retune $400+
10ft of 10-12 gauge wire and a few connectors $10

This place is a joke.
The intercooler split really doesn't do that much IMO. I've done mine, because of what I was told, but it's really overrated. It's not going to drop your IAT's by 20-25 degrees. And your pump will turn on after starting the car once it see's any boost, and remain on.

This is what I did. I had the same questions and decided to set something up that would tell me that the pump was on or off and would help with knowing if I had a failure or not. I wired in a small led light that is tapped into the pump wire harness.when the pump turns on, so does the light. If I drive the car with a light throttle the pump will not come on. Give it more than 25% throttle..it turns on and normally will stay on. One time I all of a sudden noticed that my power was way down and did not know why. Then i saw that the light was not turning on. Looked into it and found the fuse popped for the pump/compressor clutch. Real easy diag and as long as the light is on,unless the pump fried, I know the system is on.
