That will vary on how well the car was serviced before you had it.
Oil changes, rear tires, cabin filter, air filters and whatever else needs replacement. It could be anything or nothing that year. But, it is inevitable and the day will come when you need some parts replaced $$$
Doesn't matter mileage. actually quite weary of low mileage 10-12 year old car. Those can often become a nightmare waiting to happen. Much rather have high mileage car that has extensive records or replacement.
These cars needs to be driven. They can just sit around, all kinds of issues can happen and it's usually the garage queens that aren't started and driven around.

I feel like I had bought one that was maintained but a few components were on the last leg. I have had 2 OEM plastic pulleys let go ($), airmatic blowout ($$), conductor plate and trans connector ($$) and unfortunately a crank pulley shear off ($$$$$$$ bad installation and ARP bolt). I am probably $4-5K deep in maintenance and repairs over the past 12 months. I still have to do valve covers (leaking both sides), plugs and wires. I am at 94,500 miles and haven't had any catastrophic failures (crank pulley wouldn't qualify as a maintenance failure, just bad luck)
I am about $5K in mods right now ($2K+) of those have been pissed away by the pulley issue.
All in all, once everything was fixed and replaced. It's been several months of track usage (road course) and DD'ing. I am a happy owner. It's not a cheap car, it's not low maintenance. E63 shouldn't be that much different with the exception of a SC pulley, intercooler and extra belt.

$3.5-5K per year, tires account for about half the expense (Pilot SS)
An 08 with 60k miles is no garage queen, get a PPI and MB service history there are issues with valve train and head bolts on the 63.

I would say 1.5-2k a year. Some it will be more some less but if you plan for that you should be ok. Do everything you can yourself and ask how on this board. It will make jobs that cost thousands down to the 6-7 hundred range.

Alright, thanks for the replies. Should I get a warranty from the dealership or try to go third party? Anyone buy a warranty from a 3rd party? Any recommendations?
