2004 E55 : Weird Throttle cutoff issue at WOT

Hello all!

I am having an issue on my e55 that started recently and can not figure it out:

2004 E55 AMG
H/E upgrade with CM johnson pump
550cc injectors
BIP fuel rail
BIP tune
Kleemann Shortie headers with all cats removed
Rear cooling tank
Custom intake system
75 shot nitrous system
belt wrap kit
tcu tune
factory torque converter

I have 16" drag tires on the rear 255 50 16's with stock 18's on the front

Tune is fine, no smoke, no smells, no CELs

What it does is this:
You can be in any gear and go upto 6500 rpm, but as soon as you hit the gas at wot, at 4500-5500 it feels like the car hits a wall : Engine RPM stays up, and then you have to let off the gas, and hit it again, and it will go.. it seems to fight to go beyond 5500 at WOT

Anyone ever experience this?

Bad coil pack? Torque converter? TPS?

Again, with all mods, it has worked perfectly for about a year.. it started doing it recently

Have you checked your fuel pressure

You could have failing pumps and are just starving it for fuel at WOT upper RPMs

When mine were dying sometimes it would just not feel as punchy in the upper RPMs and power would fade - I initially thought it was due to belt slip but eventually turned out to be the pumps and fuel pressure

Just a thought

its not a recall. its a warranty extension and you have to have a fuel smell/leak.

Pumps & filter modules should be replaced every 60k miles.

Bringing old thread to life

I’m currently running into this same issue after changing to 650cc injectors replacing all the supercharger gaskets with 72mm fixed pulley just replaced fuel pumps and fuel sending unit hard start up and cuts out at 80mph just like you decribed! Did you ever resolve the issue?

There is the relay in the trunk as well. Have you replaced this?
