Programmable tcu for factory cars with a 722.6
This is jumping the gun a little but I am very excited about this. A little less than a month ago PCS and I got the next generation tcm set up on the CAN bus with no faults. We will be doing a harness adapter in the short term and maybe a drop in plug and play setup in the future with the original housing.
I have a lot of tuning to do before it will be released but I am working on it as much as possible and trying in as many different cars as possible. I have an E55 lined up to test in a few weeks. I have to see how the tunes transfer from car to car but since it is all torque based it should be really solid.
This will also of course still be able to be used as a full standalone for swaps.
I will update more when I have some more testing and drive time under my belt with it. Very different tuning platform as it is all closed loop amperage based and multiple targets for the pressures for each shift with inertia tables as well, instead of just duty cycle off a load value. So far I have just been playing with lower powered cars working on the day to day driving quality and it is greatly improved over the previous control unit.

So far only stock cars. As long as the torque calculations in the ecu are correct it should not matter. There is also a torque table in the tcm for adjusting the values if necessary. The ideal being that it will be used as a skew so the pressures should not have to be adjusted.
These of course are the things that I still need to find out but the ecu puts out a maximum of 1500nm of torque so the map will simply be expanded upon from lower power maps. For example a E500 has basically the same transmission in it and of course vehicle weight is close to the same. It should be almost identical under the torque values that a E500 produces and then expanding the tune to the E55 should be very little work. And of course to a modified E55 as well.

Transbrake?
Would it be possible to include a transbrake function for drag racing? I have not seen anyone running a transbrake on a Mercedes, but I know it can be done in the Chrysler versions of the 722.6. I wonder if it can be done in the MB versions electronically.

There's already someone that has done that, you gotta send him your trans and he sets everything up 2-3 weeks lead time.

Unfortunately you cannot do a trans brake electronically. The people who do this on the chrysler version use an additional solenoid mounted through the case and modify the valve body. I have looked into making a really nice setup using a proper spool valve and solenoid on the valve body so it would dump reverse properly. Simply to expensive for the limited market.

Well it looks like the w211 has something different in the wheel speed sensor data on the CAN bus. It reads fine in reverse but going forward something changes. I will have to get this sorted out. I have never run across this before in any of the other cars. Should not be to big of a deal. But will have to wait until later. I will update when I get this sorted.

It really depends on what else you are doing. The real big advantage right off the bat are that you get to adjust everything. Differential size, Shift points, lock up, and pressures. You can also gain consistency in the shifts that it is hard to get with the stock tcm.
If you are making a lot of power and have problems with limp mode then it becomes a must. Limp mode and lock up converter are really big problems in the mopar community with this trans.
Pressure wise there is a bit more to gain in what the transmission can take as far as power. But also it gives you the ability to really tune for modified transmissions as well. One of the big problems with making these handle really big power is that you have to sacrifice daily driving comfort so much with valve body modifications because you can not tune for them. With this that is not really an issue.
What the product is really intended for is swaps and of course you cannot run the factory tcm outside of a factory car without all the computers and sensors that are required. Which is a lot. But we realized that there was a lot of potential for the factory equipped cars as well.

Shame there's no aftermarket computer for the 7 speed Mercedes transmission. Then could retrofit the 7G tronic into an E55

Of course, the rumor has always been that the 7G couldn't handle the torque, but who wouldn't want to try?
