I swear in the last twenty thousand miles of my ownership of this 55 with 65kk, ive replaced more parts then on my 170k 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both lower ball joints , front left AIRMATIC strut ,all fluids, filters, upper ball joints, etc. I feel I am wrenching on this thing constantly as of late .

Anyways I replaced my front AIRMATIC strut few weeks ago. Everything seemed normal until today. When I was getting in the high way coming out of the bend , I hit a dip in tge road and my car started bouncing. kind of like a big old caddy with **** suspension, And it kind of continuid to bounce until I got off throttle. What am I going to need to replace next on this toilet?

I have zero issues with airmatics , no air leaks ,replaced with updated part number AMG strut air compressor never turns on. car sits perfectly level car .

I can understand your frustration, but these cars are always pay to play... some of us are more lucky than others, but some cars are just trouble from day one.

In regards to your issue, the airmatic strut you put in is most likely faulty from factory, you should replace it again (warranty it). Was it a rebuilt unit?

Your upset you have to maintain your European car with 65,000 miles?

Sell it. Buy a Jap or American car. Problem solved. You can go 300k and never change a ball joint.

Fortunately you haven't had to deal with airmatic issues I'm assuming, but they do become a headache after a couple times. He would very much prefer to keep his benzo rather than get a **** american or jap car made of plastic. No need to get mad.

had the same issue, the faster I went the more unstable the car was. It was very bad when in sport 2 mode. Diagnostics should no faults.

put the car in sport 2 suspension and bounce on all 4 corners, you will be able to easily tell the difference if its not working

Maintain? i didnt expect to replace every suspension component on such a expensive car with only 65k. If you have nothing positive to say in regards to my issue go troll somewhere else.

so the strut i replaced is the issue? my old one blew while just sitting in my garage, and this one seems to work fine, compressor never comes on, car sat for 2 weeks never heard compressor come on and all 4 corners sat perfectly.

also putting it into sport 2 it seems to fix the problem stiffens up the suspensions as its suppose to. this problem i have is very difficult to replicate and have not been able to since.

could having the car lowered via star when i replaced the strut have anything to do with it?

At least it looks really sexy, nice wheels, Verde Axis right? They look like HREs. She's worth it, Airmatic has always been a ****, nothing new.

Thank you,

yes verde, best bang for the buck wheel ive ever purchased.

so its the gas inside the airmatic strut that is leaking or not at the same gas level as other 3 or something? or are they pneumatic?

i travel home the same route everyday, will try to see if i can replicate this issue on my way home. yesterday the front left seemed softer than the front right when pushing against the fenders , today both sides seem identical when trying to push on fender.

From what I've seen, they leak oil and fail. The other day I sold a front strut to a guy, the one he took off the car was COVERED in oil. The seals leak I'm pretty sure.

Change the air filter in the system and you won't have any problems with the Airmatic.

At first I thought you were joking, then I realized, the Airmatic compressor has a changeable filter? I didn't know. I can understand why it would cause problems if not replaced. Thanks for sharing that.

When its not replaced it collapses, shrinks, and lets raw air through the entire airmatic system. $12 MANN filter cartridge from the dealer.

so i dont think my issue is with the airmatics. when driving straight the car is perfect absorbs the **** roads, no weird loose bouncy feeling, sport 2 the car stiffens and drives how it always has.

seems like my issue is only when im turning and there is load on the sway bar/steering rack, or some sort of suspension component.? seems to get sloppy on the front left corner.

going to throw her on the lift later take all the plastics off and see if anything looks not right.

so had a chance to get the car up on the lift today, looks like the lower ball joint is bad again, they were suppose to be meyle hd ball joints but seem to have a good amount of play when moving wheel side to side at 3 and 6 pos. would this cause the car to be unstable?
