Battery/Alternator Light: Voltage Regulator or Alternator
So I had the Battery/Alternator Visit Workshop light come on while I was driving the other day. I replaced the voltage regulator and the battery. At idle the voltage sits at 12.12 and the red battery light stays on. I ran the car for 30 min without any issues but the voltage stays the same and the battery light stays on. Voltage increases to 12.35 when the car is shut off.
Could it just be that the alternator itself is bad? What do you guys think. I've read that it's usually the VR but the fact that the voltage is still low while running makes me think it's the alternator.
