Which brand of supercharger should I get?

I just purchased a 2003 E55 AMG. I am looking to upgrade the supercharger. Which brand should I get? Kleemann, Weistec, or something else? I am new here, so show some love! Thanks guys.

....there's only one brand, Weistec. Kleemann don't make an E55 supercharger for the W211. Not sure what others you've found.

You want to search on replacing the supercharger bearing and taking it to a better shop. Replacing your entire supercharger for a bearing is non sense. You're going to run in to issues that will make you hate the car.

My apologies. I got you confused with another new member that is having engine issues. FWIW I just met up with a guy that had a $30,000 build on his engine with Weistec Stage III stuff and I dyno'd out at 505WHP and he dyno'd out at 600WHP. That's not a huge difference for the money.

I know right Although, at $30,000 I assume he had a fully built block like Ahmad (Blackbenzz) does and some supporting mods too so 600whp should be no where near the limit if so. That means he should be able to get at least 700whp on a setup like that if he spent the money wisely. Isn't Ahmad making 800whp or something like that? Even then, $30,000 is ALOT of money, I hope he got a built tranny and an LSD within that budget. You could but an M157 AND get downpipes and tune for that much.

It appeared as if his fueling was topped out too. I just wasn't that impressed by the power. I went for a ride in it and it was certainly faster but I felt like it lacked torque. It also could of been the lack of traction. It was a fully built drivetrain as well. Maybe when we get them on the track at AMP in 10 days I will see this thing shine...

The exact bearing hasn't been diagnosed. I'm not even sure if a bearing is bad, the SC makes a rattling noise, it could be the tensioner, or pulley. I have been told that nothing can be worked on with these OEM superchargers.

Thanks.

I don't want to sound lazy, but I have the SC belt taken off of it. The best description of the sound is a constant grind/rattling sound coming from the front end of the SC during idle. I don't think that posting a video of the sound would even help because the sound is just a generic rattling/grinding. The noise stops when the SC is disconnected. It almost sounds like an engine knock (which it is not haha, just a description) thanks man! What would you do?

Put the belt back on (takes less that a minute) start the car. Get something to apply pressure to the "drum/magnet" portion of the supercharger and apply pressure till it stops moving. The internals of the sc will be stopped now and the pulley bearing will be the only thing on it spinning. Then you will know where the noise is coming from. And if you post a video of the noise I'm guessing half the people here know what a bad clutch bearing sounds like from experience.

Supercharger

Welcome to the forum and your new E55. Glad to hear that right away you want to go faster !!
Considering how critical a supercharger is to the relationship to the motor, my recommendation is to spend the money and go with a brand that has really done their homework. Weistec.
Once you get the mod completed, post some pics for us.

Instead of spending a crap ton of money Why not give these people a call. I am planning on doing this in the very near future.

Welcome to the madness.

The Wiestec SC on a 63 NA motor is by far the best on the market. But they have blown a few 55k motors with the heat issue. You will NEED meth to cool it properly. But it's a great upgrade when cooled and tuned correctly.

If anything, I have my sc off my car with 60k miles. I'll let it go for a reasonable price. PM me if interested.
