Airmatic suspension question

I am trying to nail down some noises I am hearing with our wagon.

I replaced the rears with Arnott airbags back in the fall and they seem to be working perfectly. As of around the first of the year we noticed when you unlock the car, you hear a groaning/creeking/clicking noise coming from the passenger side front which sounds like the compressor kicking on. The car is never sitting low or anything like that, but it kicks on in our garage after sitting overnight maybe 60% of the time we start the car the next day. It runs for maybe 8-10 seconds or so and then shuts off. I was thinking that maybe there is a small air leak at the compressor, but that was only an uneducated guess. Twice this winter we have gotten an error message saying to visit the work shop. I had the MB dealer take a look at it a month ago and you can see half way down the page what the wrote:

My plan was to just order the front Arnott components and replace the compressor while I am at it more as a preventative issue than anything else.

Is what we are experiencing normal or is there a clear issue we should be looking for? I have just been assuming the compressor is "tired" if that possible.

Whats the mileage on your car? If you are 80k miles or more I would replace the fronts anyway. I have a air compressor as i converted to coils if you want for cheap, However you say passenger side, the pump is on the drivers side. Hopefully it is not a leak in a line some It could be the SBC brake unit you are hearing mine makes noises to on the passenger side behind the headlight.

113k on the car right now.

I guess I haven't really paid close attention to if the noise is coming from the driver side or passenger side. It could be coming from either.

I do know that we got that message saying the "pump was running for too long", so I always assumed the compressor was the issue.

thanks

The system seem inconsistent at times. I also have gotten the error message. IMO you have a small leak in one of the fronts but it will pass the tests. Mine leaks sometimes. For months not at all. Then one week it does it once then it won't do it again for a while. If it's not leaking at the time they won't find it. I get the message maybe once a month. If your worried do the pump and fronts.

Sometimes, especially in cold weather, the air suspension components may sag a little and will pump back up when you open the door.

If the air compressor is running more than it should, could be a sticking relay or a dying pump.

I did end up ordering new front Arnott struts and a new compressor. The parts should be here tuesday. I think at this point I would rather just have an entirely new air suspension and then try and establish a benchmark for which sounds are normal and which are not. At 113k miles, it probably deserves all new airmatic parts anyways

Airmatic compressor is located on the drivers side front the noise you hear is probably the sbc module waking up and building up pressure which is normal
