so - i thought that the car developed a leak at the ATF cooler, but the garage said that there is fluid from the pulley area...

if the bearings were going would it leak enough to cause a stream down the driveway? seems a bit excessive if you ask me...

You would have to loose all of it at once for a stream. Unlikely.

Wondering if the fill hole plug somehow worked itself loose and drained the S/c fluid? It was parked facing downhill ...

Ugh

That's actually best case, because it's easy to check, and easy to fix. You might even get the plug back with a magnet stick. If the leak is S/C oil it will stink up your driveway and car, there won't be any question. If it has been changed to jet oil, it has UV dye in it.

it stinks for sure, thought it was ATF - will check today - they kept the car overnight...

It's possible you overfilled it. There were some bad instructions on the forum which said to fill the SC up to the drain hole, but that's too much. It needs to be about 1cm below the drain hole. Like this:

If you really lost the drain plug, here is a pic which may be helpful in finding a replacement.

but why would it drain out well over a year later?

the tech who swapped it replaced only the amount that he removed if I remember correctly...

thanks for the drain plug pic

Who knows? I'm just spit balling.

You sure it's SC fluid? There's no mistaking - it smells just like a barn

not really, it was a red/orange slime that ran down the driveway, seemed to have some black grit/grime in it too - fortunately the driveway was just sealed a few weeks ago so it wiped up quickly...

it smells like burnt ATF, but the Jet-Oil II smells pretty bad too...

it was dripping from behind the intercooler in the lower grill and the technicians noticed the fluid coming from around the pulley and straight down the block to the underbody tray...

haven't seen it yet today but I hope to chat with the garage guys today...
