Advice - Killer Chiller - Pulley Upgrade?

Guys,

I have a KC coming with install planned for next weekend.

Question: Do I upgrade one of my pulley's when the KC gets installed?

Current Set-Up: 168/84

Plans:

1) KC with Engine Bay Tank (Pump > KC > IC > Tank)
2) Custom Dyno Tune (current 486/537)

Goals (no one seems to ask this):
1) 125 Trap on street tires (again, this is the GOAL)
2) Good AFR's
3) 525+ RWHP (goal)
4) Sub 8-Second 60-130 Times

This is NOT a drag car.

Pulley/Boost Thread Below:

Clearly an option is just to leave the pulleys as is. I could end up in the 515 rwhp range after the custom tune...

Thanks,
TK

So you're going to do a custom dyno tune right after the KC installation? Sure seems like the logical time to install a different pulley to me.

May be time for an engine build and standalone, soon.

Sorry if I was not clear...
Car would be "in the shop" so The pllan would be to have the KC and pulley installed then the custom tune.

So...

Is is worth it to "upgrade" a pulley?

My mistake, I thought you had already planned on doing a pulley "upgrade" and weren't sure about the timing.

I'll step out of the pulley discussion as I don't currently own an E55.

I ran a 195 so unsure what your combo equals but my numbers are below. I also had meth that was tuned for.

To hit 525 all depends on dyno type.

To note KC and tune won't likely get you to 525. I forget my numbers but I gained a ton when tuned for the meth.

I must say when I originally read your response I thought "interesting response"… However after thinking about it I think I get your "drift" given some of my "goals"…

Thanks,
TK

Bigger pulley more boost, more boost more heat. Mph will depend on the DA and as for meth I don't think it's needed with a good KC setup. No tuner really tunes for meth by adding timing or removing fuel so you basically have to use it for cooling only in that instance

Guys,
Thanks for the advice. I am just going to leave the mods "as is".

Has anyone experienced any dripping at the strip with their KC?

There is a new "drag set-up" and I cant seem to find any favorable feedback on it.

it is advertised to "prevent dripping at the strip" and lowers fluid intercooler temps by another 10 degrees (45 to 35). Its only $200 more so if it worth it "what the heck why not" if it make sense.

Finally, I saw in another big thread (Hulk and black06c230 were on it) that the A/C compressor shuts down during WOT. The thread is "KC installed/HE Removed = 50 IATS!"

Has anyone found a way to prevent a/c compressor from shutting down at WOT?

Thanks,
TK

the drag set up has nothing to do with dripping water at track. As per Joe when the solenoid is turned on all the cooling will be directed towards the KC system and not inside the cabin.

^^^^^ yup this is what the drag set up is for.

On keep the compressor on,I have heard that maybe star can do it but I haven't fiddled with it. Better to turn off the ac before going anyway to avoid parasitic loss

I am a mental midget on this stuff (and a grocery list of other things as well ) so work with me...

I assume the solenoid is essentially the "drag set-up" and the solenoid needs to be turned on by some type of switch?

If the "solenoid" was posted on their website it isn't clear so thank you.

Sharul, I never gave you virtual/public props. You are a good egg to do business with. Thank you...

Thank you

Think of it as an electronic diverter valve
