12.147@115.50 1.842 60'
I ran my E55 today at MIR and had a few nice runs. All runs were with just the "air mods"(filter and snorkel tube) and factory Continental tires at 25psi. My best run of the day was 12.147@115.50 with a 1.842 60'. The best mph of the day was on a 12.202@116.59 with a 1.942 60'. These runs beat my previous best of 12.328@114.46 1.939 60' at VMP. The air was perfect today with a DA of -1300. Temp was 47, Baro 30.25 and humidity of approx 30%. I know these were ideal conditions and it was great to take advantage of the good air. It was great to see people's reaction to my car running these times and the announcer couldn't believe it.

great times, im sure with some slicks you would break into the 11's.
muahhahahaha i love that...did you show up any mustangs? hahaha i can just picture the reaction on their faces when their "muscle" cars get beat by what they think is a german family sedan.

Excellent times!! Looks like the weather was ideal and you were able to get some decent launches. Now there are those who will expect to see pictures of your time slips and car with the numbers on it to match those on the time slips!!

Just want him to maintain some cred!
Stephen04E55, are you too far away (Virginia) to make it to the Atlanta dragstrip GTG on March 28th? Or have you already signed up? It should be fun!

Yes, drag radials would have been nice to have. Here are the breakdowns of my two best runs e.t. and mph.
60'-1.842
330'-5.141
1/8-7.848@90.47
1000'-10.188
1/4-12.147@115.50
60'-1.942
330'-5.252
1/8-7.941@91.22
1000'-10.261
1/4-12.202@116.59
If you guys haven't removed the little black flaps that black the air inlet openings it was worth probably .5mph through a possible ram air effect. My best e.t. was with flaps in stock position and the best mph was with flaps removed and an unobstructed path.
Atlanta is about 350 miles away and I've got plans for that weekend already unfortunately. If it were a little closer(<200 miles) I'd be there for sure.

great times. Congrats
I am worried about removing the air flaps due to possible water intrusion. Do you put them back after racing?
A note, I posted the same time in the quarter but my speed was 118 and my 60 was a poor 2.02. I have the renntech upgrade but the traction loss offsets the extra power as evidenced by the 60' times and the mph. I cant wait until I can get a run with drag radials.
regards

My E55 is not my primary driver and I do not drive in the rain if at all possible. Water intrusion is a possibility so I only bent the flaps back away from the inlets and did not completely remove them as some people have. I am going on vacation in May and don't want to have a problem on the road so I'll put the flaps in their stock location for the road trip.

The E55 doesn't have a high enough stall speed to warrant slicks. Unfortunately with an automatic car without a lever-based e-brake (like our MBs) your 60 foot times will be limited by your torque converter.
BFG Drag Radials are all you need, don't bother with any kind of slick because they are waste and I doubt you could fit a wheel small enough for a slick over the rear brakes anyways.
Until (if ever) we start seeing slightly higher stall converters you're not going to see disgustingly low 60' times like you could see on a manual transmission car or an automatic with a high stall converter.
Congrats on the flying times. With a set of BFG drags you could definitely touch 11s.

took my car to the track on sunday , with a 1.89 60ft it went 12.15 at 115.69, and my best mph was a 12.3 at 116.4 or somthing like that . is that good for a stock car. the 12.3 spun the tires and traction kicked on

How did you guys pull such low times. I was at the track pulling 12.6's in my CLK55 (supercharged) right along a new E55.
His best time was a 12.6 flat. Most of the runs were in the 12.8's.
I just can believe that a pretty much stock E55 is toasting Vipers and twin turbo Porsches.
I am not saying someone is lying, I just can't believe it.
I can not get a 60ft time better than a 2.1 with 22 pounds in 19"'s.
If I go any lighter off the line, I lose time on the 1/4.

It is surpising but....
Please view my time sheet pictures with the car and numbers. It will remove any doubts. It is posted under time sheet pictures.

I am not doubting it. I just know what I saw with this particular E55. It was about 48 degrees this day and not humid.
The driver seemed pretty capable.
Are these low 12's with completely stock cars or do they have the supercharger upgrades?
It is just a little depressing to see these times being turned when there are so many CLK55's supercharged looking at the tailights, like me.

Mine is modified to 570 horse and 600 torque and I believe that 11.7 or .8 is very likely in the coming months after I get my new tires. If you check some recents treads there has been some debating on the real numbers. My believe based on my car, when it was stock, and two others that friends own; is that the car averages between 12.5 and 12.8 stock. Draw your own conclusions on truth and motives. Post a picture of your time slips if you have an usual time; that is my moto.

Your ETs are higher because your 60 foot times are higher. A general principle in drag racing is .1 seconds in the 60 foot is worth .2 on the final ET.
Cut a 1.8 60' like these guys and you will have a low 12 second pass. Get rid of the 19s and stick on some drag radials. 2.1 60s are not very good.

Saber, thanks for clearing that up. Physics tells me that a stock E55 can not run a 12.1X.
So the stock E55 running 12.6's was about right.
You guys keep working at it and a mid 11 is in the bag.

I ran a 12.29@113.6 first time to the track with crappy air -- Density Altitude was 2,000 ft. 28.4 barometer and 64 degrees and 40% humidity.
SAE corrected to 0 DA this would be about a 12.15@115 -- right in line with what others are getting.
This was with a 1.84 60 foot and BFGs and K&N drop in.
I think if you want better 60-foots you might want to look into Kleeman's limited slip and perhaps some 411 gears instead of the stock 396s ot whatever they have in them.
