Cutouts leak when butterfly closed?
Hi, I've got two cutouts ready to go and planning to have them installed tomorrow (Y piped after the bend right before the muffler).
My question is: When the butterfly is closed and I blow into the pipe I can definitely feel that air is coming / leaking through the closed butterfly valve.
Is this normal and could this possibly come with any negative impacts? In which case I would obviously not install them.
Thanks!
// These are not my cutouts, just some random ones to clarify where it's leaking through.

Do you have QTPs? Once they are hooked up, the motor is supposed to provide constant torque to keep the butterfly tight. Maybe power them up and try again.

Since I'm from Thailand, who knows if they're genuine, lol. I was just wondering as it really looks like that the flap itself is too small and would never be able to completely shut the pipe. If I look through one end I can clearly see light coming through, so it's definitely not a tight seal.

I hope that's the case, I'll have them installed tomorrow.
Just pulled the wires through the drain hole in the trunk, now I'm wondering where do I get power from? Hooking them up directly to the battery does not seem like a good idea, wouldn't this drain the battery when the car is off?
Is there something else in the trunk that I could splice into (preferably with as little disassembling as possible)?

My QTP Cutout had a small leak for about a week, almost completely fixed if you just bump the motor closed once it's already shut.
Also after some carbon gets built up in there, it seals it for you. Mine is silent now.

I just got them installed and.... HOLY MOTHER OF LOUD, I also have sec. cat and resonator delete, this is complete madness. I was however really surprised that there's no noticeable drone in the cabin!
My only complaint is what I said previously, the valve, when closed does not seal 100%. It is very noticeable as the exhaust note has changed by quite a lot even when they're closed. Sounds a bit broken, like an exhaust leak (which it basically is). I might return them and import myself a pair from overseas, as I'm still not sure if those things are genuine (I'm from Thailand).
Also, this might be just me but has anyone (with cutouts or muffler delete) noticed a loss in power? This might be me just expecting the car to go MUCH faster due to the earthquake sound but I feel like I have lost quite a lot of OOMPH
Maybe put the resonator back in, to gain some backpressure?
For now I have it hooked up directly to the battery with a fuse and a switch in the middle, not very elegant, but will do until I find something better.

Sure thing, I live in a quiet neighborhood so can't do it right now in the driveway, but I might get around to it later today and will post the clip here and shoot you a PM.

ive heard a couple of the cutouts on large V8 engines. And I personally didnt like the sound at all. Sounded like...well, like a car running no exhaust. Not just loud, but just didnt sound "good", if that makes any sense. You know how certain cars sound good even when loud? Like a Ferrari V12 at WOT. Thats LOUD, but also sounds good. The cutouts I heard sounded like the big fat annoying harley davidsons...X 2

Put the cutouts behind the X pipe and it'll sound good. Put it on the headers with no crossover pipe, it'll just be noise. It'll sound like an uncorked boat.
