Jerry at EC is a "Magic Man": Dyno tune #s

New dyno tune & I am more than pleased to say the least: 624 whp/607 wtq @ 6100 RPM & 18.65 lbs boost on 93 octane pump gas (it actually hit over 19lbs boost on multiple pulls)! This pull was with the trunk tank iced down & the IAT went from 73F at the beginning of the pull to 140F when the heat caused the power to drop. Jerry says that there is more hp & tq in the motor if we can keep the IATs down. SO, water-meth injection is coming & then another dyno tune. BTW, for those wondering how the MAP sensor didn't trigger limp mode at boost over 17 lbs, Jerry is a magic man.

Congrats!

What kind of dyno?

Totally bad azz (the engine, dyno #'s, etc). I am guessing you have one of the highest non-NOS E55's (?).

Meth injection will help huge with IAT's. See JMB14's set up. State of the art...

Keep us posted on progress.

Thanks. The dyno is EC's dual roller DynoJet in Houston (it's like a Mustang Dyno). The motor is one Jerry built: Darton sleeved out to 5.9L, Mahle pistons, Carrillo rods, ported/polished heads with bigger valves. This tune was after breaking in the engine for a few months & changing the CP from 150mm to a 170mm. She's my daily driver & the power is addicting. I will get another dyno tune after I install the water-meth kit.

Just saw (more like "internalized") your pulley combo: 170/62. That is AGGRESSIVE! Thanks for answering my questions...

Did you log your pulls? If so, can you post logs?

Also, I would like to see a rolling 60-130 pull on video. Surely you have access to a closed course or airstrip.

Congrats! Wonder if Jerry used a similar file to mine. Meth will help you. Ever thought of running the 1/4?

Congrats! The ECU is dumping fuel early. I bet you would put more down with the older pulley set up and keeping the IATs in line. Meth is a must if you live in Houston. Im in the process of redoing mine right now.

Awesome, sounds like a staggering amount of safe, daily drive-able power!

Jerry is quite the wizard. I have always appreciated what he has done for my cars : )

the 17 pound ceiling circumvention must have some interesting details (use a MAP sensor scaled for a larger boost sweep and then compensate in the tune? I would be curious to see how your OBD2 boost compares to actual boost)

Great work !!

I look forward to hearing more about it and to you getting many, many miles (and quarter miles : ) of joy out of it !!

Happy Holidays!
Chris

The boost readings were read directly from the intake by the dyno (we attached a line from the dyno to a port on the intake just in front of the MAP sensor).

Just a guess on my end is that part of the reason Jerry tweaked to allow more boost is you have an upgraded/stronger motor that Euro built?

My sense is this type of "love" (more boost capability) isn't likely readily available for just anyone?

Down the road, I may convert to E-85 & gain more power

That's very impressive for a stock blower & no spray. I assume the E-85 helps a lot. Who did the conversion for you? I am thinking about doing an E-85 conversion down the road. Have you had any issues?

I did it myself, I'm currently running AEM 320 pumps in the stock buckets and ID1000s. No other hard part changes have been needed but I plan to convert to full return style in the near future to control pressure better than factory.

IIRC the AEM's are drop in, hence the reason people use them on this platform. Converting to larger injectors and fuel lines along with a return line would be optimal, just as rock is describing. Chawkins' beast was on the corn for a while, but when I talked to him at Timmayfest he mentioned it was a PITA for everyday use. Along with the tuning there other factors to consider. Is it cold outside? Have to worry about the fuel gelling up. Going on a road trip? I hope you plan your route accordingly so you don't run out of gas in the middle of the desert.

As Ahmad has asked before, Icanhasflexfueltuning, plox?

I wish
