How do you compression test a written-off car?
I need to do a compression test on my 2012 CLS63 which got written off in an accident. The radiator, condenser, oil cooler....all the stuff at the front got badly damaged and the assessor took them off. Basically the engine is sitting without the radiator and the whole front clip so it cannot be started.
Another reason it cannot be started is the pyrofuse, which blows when there is an accident and disables the car.
Now the pyrofuse can be reset and the codes clears to make the car start but the car doesn't have a radiator, oil cooler etc, all the lines are just severed so it might damage the engine.
I have a person buying the vehicle that wants to compression test it before buying so I need a way to engage the starter by itself to turn the motor over to compression test it.
Does anyone know how that might be achieved? I know this is the W211 forum but this is pretty much the center of the forum so I figured the best minds probably hang out here.

Forget a compression test and just do a leak down. They're more valuable anyways. Why do you think you need to do a compression test though is my question...
edit: I see it's for a potential buyer.

I'm fairly sure the starter is attached to the gearbox underneath and I don't think it's that simple on these Mercs...is it? Surely it can't be. Also, doesn't the starter sprocket disengage and needs to go forward or something. Honestly, I don't know the first thing about the setup and it's very expensive if I make a mistake. I've seen a guy I know jump the starter off the fuse box, not sure how. I'll try to get him to come over.

Are you sure the compression is near perfect, did the car run right? If so, sell it with a warranty to refund the purchase price. If the engine was not impacted & the car didn't run out of coolant or oil, there should be little risk of refund? Buyer might not bite but possibly worth discussing the option.

I would limit turning that motor without an oil cooler as the car will pump out all the oil that is in it and leave it unlubricated. There is actually a menu in star that disables the injectors and plugs to do compression testing
