wont stay straight under hard acceleration

my 05 e55 developed a strange new problem, under decent amount of acceleration the rear end feels like its on ice and just sways left to right even on light acceleration, if you let go of the steering wheel and accelerate you can see the steering wheel turn left and then right back and forth all by itself, this happens at high speeds as well, i suspect rear subframe bushings but not sure as the car has only 82k on it, any ideas?

Could be any of the rear control arms, thrust arms, etc. After 82k miles, if nothing has been replaced, I'd check all of it and likely replace all those items and the rear subframe bushings.

Yep. Just rebuild the rear end and be done with it once and for all. BTW, the control arms outer bushings are not replaceable so you have to replace both control arms. A tad over $500 for both....

Also, to remove the outer bushing-to-hub bolt, you have to remove the brake caliper which means you have to disable the SBC. BTW, the bolt is a 10mm allen-head so just go ahead and order the bit now....

You're welcome.

PS. This made a tremendous difference in my car when combined with the rebuild of the front suspension. My car, at least, is tough on suspension components....

Where do you source the rear subframe bushings and real control arm bushings. Does anyone have a list of all bushings that are in the rear end. I want to do them all too.

This looks like it's got all of the rear suspension arms included: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...2103509999kt1/

My 05 does this exact same thing. It has 87500. Its done this since I purchased it. have inspected all the bushings and they seem fine. My car has new control arms and BC coils. No idea what it could be.

Did you change your rear subframe bushings? Or at least check them.

Nice, but it does not have the subframe bushings or hardware.

I can only seem to find w210 E class bushings on ebay. Just a dealer item them?

Are you talking about the rear lower control arm, that has the air spring and shock attached to it? That bushing is replacable..

also i heard that it might be the rear subframe bolts that might have stretched over time, i believe a way to check it is to take a torque wrench and set it to 100 and if the bolt moves then its stretched

If so, can you provide the bushing part number? I could not find one in the EPC; only a part number for the control arms. Very frustrating for me as the outer bushing is replaceable in the non-SAS cars for a very low cost.

Check your tire air pressure all around before you tear the rear end apart.
Good luck!

Its the same part as in steel suspension.

I've replaced both sides on my car.

MB officially states that it can not be replaced because the aluminium arm gets damaged when pressing the bushing in/out, and as it separates into two halfs it cant be aligned "perfectly" back or what not.. with a lot of patience and common sense(its aliminium-->keep in mind where and how to press) it can be done. Hardest part is so separate the control arm in half. Rest is just putting it back on
