I am keep getting the P0456 error code. I just replaced the gaz cap but it didn't help. I want to replace the canister but don't know the location. I did some google search but couldn't find one. Could someone please show me the location of the canister - 2007 E63. Thank you.

Thank you for the tip. Now I need to search for the location of the fill flap. If anyone has a picture, I would really appreciate it.

The "fill flap" is on the passenger side "right side" towards the rear of the vehicle. You had to open it to get to the gas cap.

The MB part guy told me its under the hood.
Wow it seems as though this pesky P0456 code is virus! I finally got my I/C pump replaced and working properly and now I have this same code popping up. I have an 06 E55 though and I'm starting to wonder if this purge valve is also the culprit to my throttle jumps and burps....last night I filled up with gas and this morning holy hell the entire garage smelled of fuel. The inside of the car is fine with no smell but damn is it strong outside the car this morning. Has anyone found the cure to this issue? I'e read a few threads on here about it but the fixes are not the same.....should I just buy a new purge valve? A new carbon canister? Fuel neck?....

the charchoal canister itself is behind the right side rear wheelwell. The purge solenoid valve is behind your left side headlamp in the engine compartment

Ahhh, you know when the car is running, when I pop the hood I hear what sounds like an air leak or vacuum leak coming in the area of the left drivers side front (around the headlamp and oil filter). Would this be the purge valve? Originally Posted by Elhonaz

So does anyone have a diy or pics of how to place both the charcoal canister & purge valve?
