Good deal on an E63?
Found this at a dealership in my state.
I have an SL55 that I love, but the old lady won't go for using the cargo straps to hold a car seat in (even though I showed her it will TOTALLY hold).
I found this at a local dealer.... good deal? What should I inquire about?

Headbolts, cams, lifters (known M156 issues) and Airmatic. Also check the brakes as they are very expensive. I'd be leery since the car was obviously a trade-in or from auction so they probably know next to nothing on the history of it. If you're serious about the car, get a PPI done by your local MB dealer and see if you can get them to give you a VMI.
Do a search. This stuff has been covered on here a lot.

You don't mention your budget or if you'd want to do a fly and buy, but my E63 is sort of for sale. I just haven't gotten around to posting it yet. Still need to get it fully cleaned up and smogged. I'm selling it so I can do some house remodeling and buy a different toy.
I'm asking $20k for it. It has P1, P2 and pano roof and 85,536 miles currently. It's lowered on links (have stock ones too), has a Eurocharged tune w/ handheld, resonator delete and a Godhand front lip. All maintenance is up to date and fluids have been changed. The car needs nothing. Head bolts have not been done, but I have them. I'm in the they're not as big of an issue as people make them out to be group.

I also have a set of 19" Niche Misano wheels with good tires that I'll throw in too. They only have about 5,000 miles on them. One rear wheel does have some light rash.

Below was written before the above auto was offered, including the recommendation for a forum car, and refers to the Ohio car.
Not knowing the history or mechanical state of the above mentioned systems would make this care quite a gamble. I actually prefer the e63 brakes to the e55 system, it is a more typical system, and e55 rotors can be substituted making maintenance costs more reasonable (but very expensive compared to most cars). Suspension can be replaced with aftermarket struts, or for even less cost coil overs ( both are pricey compared to other cars). Head bolts are a know weakness, but can be replaced with improved parts proactively ( but expensive and not for all but the most talented DIYer). If the history demonstrates that these systems have been addressed this would be a great deal. Of course there is a long list of other potential problems like oil leaks etc.. if you can’t spend several thousand dollars or maybe a whole lot more to sort it out, I would pass.
Better to to pay more for a car with a complete history, something you might find being sold by a member of this forum.

No worries. I still love the car and will have no problem with keeping it if I don't get my number. I really want a VW Bug and only have garage space for one car. I know I will regret it if it sells and it won't be the first time that's happened with a vehicle I've sold.

Id sell my supercharged E63 for $23k. It has 128k on it. Brand new Pilot Sport 4s and new front struts.
It is one of the cleanest I have seen.
