Complete Pano 'cassette' replacement cost??
I'm new here.....been eyeballing for a few years either an E63 AMG S ('14-'16) or E55 AMG ('03-'06).
Looking at pulling the trigger on an '06 E55 AMG. Major issue on one I found - the pano is dead. PPI says get it into closed position and leave it OR replacement. Thoughts on that?
Anyone have an actual cost for a full replacement?
Thank you in advance!

A properly maintained Panoramic Roof isn't the PITA as some make it out to be. I have a now 12 yr old E63, and not one single issue with the panoramic roof.
I really don't know the cost to either repair it, or replace it, but I do know that it won't be cheap. And I for one never really use mine.

Depending on the issue(s), tracks, motor(s), etc. costs to fix your pano could be anywhere from $2,500 to $8,000. These are stealership quotes that I got.

Dang. Just what I thought. Kind of heard about $2-3k just to fix and that's absolutely no guarantee it won't break again. A full replacement is like $8k+ I'm hearing. Wow! No thanks.

I live in MN. Could pay cash for an E55, keep my new '18 Accord for winter, and have fun with E55 in summer. I either pay cash for E55 or put that same amount as DP on E63s to keep payment about the same as accord.
If I go E63s route, I'd be down to 1 car, and hate the idea of rolling up so many DD miles on it. Insurance probably incredibly high. Total car payment the same. But this way I get 2 cars and can have a little more fun modding the 55.
At least that's my thought process to date...….I still look online for '15-'16 E63s. It's a struggle -ugh!

I suggest either close the roof and never touch it again or look at getting a different E55. Non-pano cars are lighter and don't break (in that department). People also complain of the pano roofs creaking often. Of course I am the type of person who would struggle psychologically with having a feature that wasn't fully functional even if I never wanted to use it.
