E55 exhaust
can someone please tell me the best and easiest way to make my stock e55 amg sound better I don’t want any drone, don’t mind the raspy sound but don’t want it sounding like a cheap “loud” v8 just something nice that you can hear when I put my foot down, I’m in New Zealand so finding c63 mufflers Is unheard of aswell as aftermarket e55 mods.... any suggestions please

I have secondary cats and resonator delete to xpipe no drone and noticeably louder in the cabin...outside is a pretty nice sound too when i go through tunnels I definitely get the V8 sound more than I would stoxk

Any modifications to the exhaust with stock E55 mufflers won't make noticable difference from stock.
Change the mufflers. Then if you need more, start to delete the resantor, secondary cats .. etc

I've installed the C63 mufflers with resanoter delete and it is awesome, but a bit load for me.
I would go with E63 mufflers this time.
Any of these mufflers are good E63, C63, CLS63 or Eisenmann, Meisterschaft.

relatively big mods don't make it louder until you get to the mufflers, as others have stated.
here's mine at a cold start, kleemann mid length headers, no cats, no res, stock mufflers. notice you can still easily hear the vacuum pump the entire time. it's really not loud, but at wide open throttle it has an almost, I dunno, exotic sound to it? I love it.

Just installed e63 mufflers on mine definetly not worth doing e63 mufflers only, it barely makes any difference you cant even notice honestly so im gonna do resonator delete (x pipe) next just letting u know in case u get e63 mufflers go ahead and do resonator delete all at once...

I used a cheap decibel meter on my E63 at cold start and it was 98.8 (no resonator). That was max within 2' of the tailpipes. There is no standard for testing which is the big issue IMO. It comes down to the cop thinking the car is too loud.
I have run across several cops at lights since this went into effect and haven't had any issues. The car is loud, but not that loud.

I'm not too worried about the new law. The only thing that changed is that it's no longer a correctable thing. You get a $1000 fine and must go back to stock with a visit to a referee (which is a huge pain in the ***).

1 has headers- x pipe- straight pipe stock muffler
2 has header- x pipe- straight pipe- c63 muffler
the headers imo don’t make a crazy dif in sound, especially being the Kleemann. The stock muffler one does sound meaty and not raspy but more bass

Mine when the engine is warm you don't really know its ON. When you get on it thought it will be loud. I have little drone. Muffler Delete with Jpipe. I love the sound and honestly almost never listen to the radio when I'm driving. Only do this mod if your doing a Jpipe.
