Anyone change their shift boot leather?

I’m looking to change the leather/stitching on my 2006 shift boot. I took it apart, but can’t seem to see any way to swAp an new one.
I know I have seen it done, so it’s possible.

Anyone here done it?

So are you trying to replace the leather for Alcantara or something else?

I know that it can be done, because I seen it on a few custom AMG's

It's very easy.
go to YouTube and search w211 shifter.

Be aware that most of the junk on eBay won't actually fit. And in w211s there's 2 types, one with intergral knob and others are separate knob/boot.

Thanks.
I should have been more clear, I got the assembly removed no problem.
Where I’m having trouble is with getting the actual leather detached from the frame and shift knob.

Can the single piece units be replaced? Mine is in very good condition but I always wondered since the boot is incorporated into the knob.

If you have the one piece knob/boot, then you must replace it with a one piece knob/boot or convert to the 2 piece, separate knob and boot as some other W211's have.

If you have the one piece integral knob/boot, don't just buy a new boot as you'll also need a new, separate knob.

Do you have a photo of the leather piece you want to use?

My 2006 got the shift boot with the shift knob. Easier to replace then expected. YouTube helped with how.

Thats great, thanks.
But I was trying to separate the actual knob from the leather boot.
The guy who redid the leather got it figured out....no idea how he did it

Brian,
That shift knob is so sweet. I also finished my carbon fiber interior trim with your old trim pieces that you gave me.
And I paid it forward by providing my trim pieces to Eddie (Benz Elite) so that he can do his.

Again Thank you
