MSport may make 'better' engines, but in this case, it's not just about the engine but the total package. Why else would someone get a four door rocket sedan? I seriously doubt it's just because the 'engine was better'.

Its not like the M5 has the comfort (or lack of) of an EVO. It still is a luxury car at heart... just like a supermodel on steroids, sort of....

Heh, loved that supermodel analogy
Not because it lapped the ring faster, I was referring to the statement about MSport making 'better' engines then AMG.
Heck, by all means, having a two year lapse, they should not only be able to beat their older car, but the newer offerings as well! Kudos to BMW for making a car that's not too powerful that it eats the E55*W211 on paper, and not too weak that it doesn't even appear to offer any competition. All we can do is wait till the real offering comes out into the hands of folks like you and me. Actually not me, because I don't think they'd allow me on the track

we all know BMW and MB take different approaches in the engines for their performance models. I think BMW take to the engineering side fo things much more and seem to take longer in production and seem to be very precise. MB searche sfor immense power in anyway they can, and it works!
