Rims and spacing for E55

I have SL 550 rims which are 8.5 et 30 fronts and 9.5 et 33 rear. The tires are 255/40/18 front and 285/35/18 rear. I noticed AMG Meister runs a 3mm spacer? Is the spacer for the front or back? Needed?

I just finished installing a set of CLS550 wheels of the same size and offsets wheels on my E55, but am running 245/40 front and 275/35 rear with zero rubbing issues and no spacers.

The larger sizes should work. Another member said he runs them so they should work fine.

You shouldn't need spacers with the CLS550 or SL wheels, the 30 and 33 offset make them sit pretty flush. The CLS55 wheels are 28 and 28, I rub even on 275s. Pretty sure AMGMeister doesn't run any spacers, his car is behind mine in the picture

I run those wheels with 275/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rear. I did install 3 mm spacers to give it just a tad more for a perfect look / fit.

Yes they should I was just keeping within OEM sizes and heights, the others are taller.

Do you have a pic of the fronts?

255/40/18's versus 275/35/18's are close the 275's are 12% wider than stock wheres the 255's are 4% wider than stock.

hi chris.. just my opinion but the 275 on the front may be too big and on an 8.5 inch wheel may be pushing it (they may rub on slow sharp turn and a bump)… 255's should work and they are big tires -- pics when your done

OOPS...read it wrong . thought you had a 9.0 front wheel like I do so yes a 275 on a 8.5 is too tight.

That's pretty much what I had figured, too wide. I will take pics when done. Still a ways a way though. I just put brand new tires on my originals...
