Pano roof recall??
https://www.foxbusiness.com/technolo...n-fly-off-cars
Just saw this, I'm guessing it has to be for the pano roof. Anyone know more about this? I wonder if I could get mine replaced since it rattles and makes wind noise over about 80mph, both of which started not too long ago. Guessing they won't replace the motor though.

They told me, however that there is a ongoing recall for the sliding sunroof 07-09 W211 E63, but it's vehicle specific and by the VIN#.

Ok, good data point I guess. The recall shows the entire w211 E63 model range and doesn’t state it’s VIN specific. I guess in time it’ll be clarified or we’ll be notified.

I wonder if the pano roof becoming loose has anything to do with the motors flexing causing the gears to misalign? I would think having the roof slightly off-track would put excess stress on the motor.
I'm probably going to fix my motor before I consider bringing it in to check for the recall, but it would be nice to know what those of us who have a grinding sunroof can expect... other than a huge bill.

from my service records, the previous owners of my vehicle had every single piece of the pano roof besides the glass replaced.
so is it clearly visible that the glass is becoming unbonded? i do have noise but only after 130.

Just checked this. I have an 09 E63 Wagon with regular sunroof. It falls under the recall since it shows active once I have typed my vin number in. I’ll know more on this today. So no. It is not exclusively about panoroof. Good news is that it doesn’t say remedy is not available so hoping for fairly quick resolution.

This place is a joke.
Mostly no additional information other than what is posted here has been released to dealership personnel. There are no repair or inspection instructions, just a note that a remedy is NOT yet available and additional letters will be mailed to owners when it is. This is not a "pano roof" recall. Pano roofs may be included but with this many models including CLK's which never had pano roofs, most recalled cars will have the standard sunroof. It's only conjecture at this point, but it's possible pano roofs may NOT be involved.

Got the email with subject line 'Recall issued for your Mercedes'. Before I opened it "please be headbolts, please be headbolts..."

I just got off the phone with a SA from MB of Alexandria, to re-verify that my vehicle isn't effected. I'm go to go. She said that during the manufacturing process specific bonding agents or adhesives were used.
And MB has determined that, that specific adhesive was used on various models, and has failed. How do they know, I asked. They know!!!! She said that MB tracks/scans everything, from a nut and bolt used on your specific vehicle.

Is this PANO only? I would assume all sun roofs based on the bonding agent used.

07 w211 got a recall letter
I have a 07 w211 e350 and received a safety recall letter for the sunroof that can fly off at higher speeds. Coincidentally I started noticing the liner on the sunroof shade started getting wet and separated at one corner with discoloration from tree sap (the sunroof is leaking) even though the letter says that there will be a follow up letter once parts arrive, I plan on stopping by the dealer to show them this to see if they have a solution to stop the leak now...we have one underground parking space in our condo and now that's reserved for our new gle63 and the old E class has to be outside in the rain...anyone else has this sunroof leak that had the dealer take care of under this recall?
