After only a few seasons with this girl, I've developed deep sentimental attachments to her and the sounds she makes, and it's gonna break my heart if I move her out, but I don't know how I can keep 2 summer rides with my current garage space and find the time to drive them both. My E55 has 18 000 miles (mostly highway) and the M3 CS is new. Am I crazy to feel this way? I just love this thing on long trips in the summer and I don't think it can be beat in that game. I'm hoping to spend more time in the mountains on twisty roads and I think the M3 will really shine here; also I might do the odd track day too. I'm hoping my old man will buy this from me so it stays in the family.
I assume that I would always regret selling this car anytime in the future regardless of what were to replace it. It is such a great level of luxury, comfort and performance, in a balance that is often missing from newer offerings.
I am with you Tw.....This car is rare and unique and has A LOT of performance locked in and was kicking *** back in the day for being a Mercedes. I will keep mine forever and always continue to mod something on it and could care less what it cost.
The last car I had I hand built from a shell and raced / street drove for 20 years and when I sold it and watched it drive away with the new owner I said out loud to my self, I just made the biggest mistake, and it proved to be true many times over. Never again !!! LOL
I'm in the same situation. I have drove 2 F10 M5'S. 5 years ago when I got the e55 they were 65k. Saw one for 19k and 23k. They are pretty nice. With a tune they are really fast. Low 11 second cars. On the flip they don't hook worth **** and I would have a payment. But that bi turbo is pretty tempting.
OP- have you driven an F80 M3 yet? Just wondering if they sound any better on the inside than they do the outside. Maybe that exhaust note is an acquired taste?
I wouldn't sell unless your 100% convinced. You will be able to get the M3 for many years with 18k miles If you regret selling the E start buying lotto tickets because your odds are better than finding a car like yours again. It's a rare car it's self. With 18k miles its extraordinarily rare.
Having more doubts now after reading all these comments. I have driven an F80 for a few days when they first came out but not since the ZCP package or CS models were available. I think the E55 is more special than these cars and so maybe i'll look at getting a slightly used M2 and beating on that all year round. As to driving the AMG in winter, the roads are a disaster here with the freeze thaw cycles and potholes are extremely deep and hard to see here. It just wouldn't be much fun; I see cars with blown out rims every day on my short work commute. It's very very sad.
As to the rims, they are Vossen's and I can't recall the model but I will dig through my records and find out.
