fuel pump surely mate? if in usa you may be able to get it replaced under extended warranty for free!. I'd check if your car qualifies and then take off the rear seat, uncover the lid to the fuel tanks and pour a little petrol onto it just before you take it in so that it looks like its leaking if it isn't already lol. the fault is the fuel leaks out the tank lids in the vehicle producing fuel smell when full so tell them that's whats happening. look up some e55 fuel tank leak for pics and instructions how to remove rear seats there is a hole with a tab u push and lift seat up at same time and they pop off with a good yank.
you'll need to replace both regulator and fuel pump together some aftermarket units available but up to you to risk the cheaper units. bad fuel pump can blow up the engine easy and the car doesnt even throw a cel for ****ed fuel pump in my exp.

Im overseas. Euro spec year 2003. Im considering replacing it. Thanks for the info's.
Though noticed the updated left sending unit has a sensor positioned on top, the one installed on the car now does not have.
Im wondering if I can still install the updated one. Do you have any idea.

Ah yep im in New Zealand and had to replace it too. Yeah dont worry about that sensor you can leave it unplugged my new pump came with it but car had nothing to plug in. I can't recall what the sensor is for sorry.
Make sure you get the regulator and pump together i got mine separately and there are some revisions/types for the connector types between the two units for the hoses, Mercedes part dept here can be hard work.

Other thing is the fuel relay can be burnt out if you google e55 burnt relay fuel pump surely will come up this bbirdwell guy on here talks about it all the time so well documented. I havent had to mess with it yet.
I bet it will be the fuel pump though, besides on a 2003 its probably worth changing for peace of mind lol these cars getting OLD

I checked the relay already. Thinking it could be faulty. Replaced it already.
Yeah lol I'll just replace it just to be sure.. Would you know if this would be the correct fuel pump number
2114700000?
Thanks!!

Parts diagram in the thread below was for a 2005 US-spec E55.
Fuel pumps 211-470-00-00 will only connect to Tank Inner Module 211-474-64-94 (this is the fuel filter/regulator with built-in 5.1 Bar pressure regulator).
The above fuel pump requires electrical harness adapter 211-540-07-00. See this thread for details:
