Got my new Steering wheel from MBWerks...

Will attempt to install myself today (I'm not very "handy") and will post results later along with pics.

One thing I noticed is that the steering wheels is very thick, which I like a lot...one thing I LOVED about the M5 sterring wheels.

its super easy to change the wheels, you should have no problem with it and it should only take you like 10-15 minutes tops. post up some pics when you get a chance.

Adam is very helpful and more importantly - patient! Based on my experience when I was installing my MP wheel.

Thanks AWINER, but I went to Home Depot to buy a 25 and 30 Torx Screw Driver and I could not get any of the screws loose and I was afraid to strip the screws to I gave up and took it to the dealer today...they charged me $240 for the install but hey, it's on my baby now so I'm happy.

As for the steering wheel, it is certainly a lot thiker than I anticipated and I think it will take some time to get use to it. Will post pics later on today...left digicam in wifey's car.

yeah i had that problem at first too but i went to autozone and got some L shaped torx's. i think you need the #27 to release the two screws that hold the airbag on and a #10 allen to release the steering wheel.

this is similar to the set i got:

btw, how did the dealer have the ***** to charge you $240 when i think they only charge like $95/hour labor? thats like saying it took them just under 3 hours for the swap

The wheels are available in all colors and many finishes (wood, carbon fiber). Performance Products as well as Autowerkes sell them.

Approx $1100.00....

Thanks T-Bone, your post "inspired" me to get the steering wheel. I was originally just gonna stay with stock til I saw you post and the picture.

I noticed your sig...I ordered the Renntech Stage 1 on Monday. I will be sending my ECU to them next Tuesday or Wednesday (days I will be traveling) and I am very excited about the upgrade...can you give me some feedback on your upgrades.

I was looking at pretty much all of them...Brabus (too expensive), Kleemann (was top of my list but they are out of stock on the pulley), EVO (best bang for the buck IMO but I felt that they were the "Freshmen" of the bunch in terms of research on MB since I assumed that Brad started the company modding Bimmers), then Renntech ( was 2nd on my list and they are a bit more expensive than Kleemann but Bob did a GREAT job convincing me to go with his product). Funny thing is, none of them seem to be able to tell me HP/TQ gains "AT THE WHEELS". We'll see what happens.

My HRE547Rs should arrive Sept 7th and hopefully Jerry from mymercedes.com can get me the 3 piece lip spoiler soon. I can honestly say that I was following T-Bone's post and got pretty much all my modding ideas from his posts...thanks T!
